Hey guys i just bought a MS6 a couple weeks ago and everytime i shift and get on it the car will cut out at first then its fine. It does it every gear if im getting on it pretty good. Just wondering if there are any ideas as to what it could be or if thats a common thing with this car or what. It doesnt do it if i ease into it, only if i get on it good. But i have a heavy foot and its not in my nature to ease into it when i'm excited about getting on a car.

turbo spool? there is a delay as the turbo spools back up, you get much less response until your up around 3500 rpms..

I don't think its the turbo spooling cause it will have the power then cutout and then get the power back. If it was spooling it wouldnt have the power at first then lose it. I am shifting at 5800 when its doing it. It was the first thing my friend noticed when i took him for a ride. Its a completely stock ms6 with bout 2K miles on it.

You are probably having the same problem I am. I can duplicate it now. In 4th gear at 80KM/h, gun it at least 50% throttle, it cuts out a couple times between 3-4K RPM. Same when doing 100KM/h and at least 50% throttle, again between 3-4K RPM. Really annoying. Think this is something that Mazda would look at, much less somehow fix and cover under warranty? Or should I just bite the bullet and get a Fuel Cut Defender? If I do that, will it damage the engine? I mean, if it's cutting fuel, is that a failing of the pump or is it the computer going "ah ah ah, not too much fuel now or you'll blow up" to keep my engine safe?

I think what some of the other members are trying to say is you need to keep the boost going on the turbo. When you let your foot off the gas the boost dumps, and you need to get on it a little sooner otherwise the car will buck when you re-engage the throttle and the boost suddenly kicks back in.

Yes, i know what they are saying about the turbo spooling down. But i also know thats not what this is. It is not the car bucking, it is cutting out bad. Its not turbo lag.

i have the same problem and the solution that i found was take it to the dealer for a re-flash. i've heard some ppl say that our cars are setup to reduce thottle to about 33% when there is 1 knock as a safety measure and i think that is the problem. i get it when i shift from 2nd to 3rd but haven't taken it to the dealer yet but did find a way around it by double-clutching.

I just bought the car a couple of weeks ago. If there was a reflash for the car wouldn't they have performed it when it first came in?

I'd be guessing to answer, so would you. I'd take it in and complain about the cutting out. Mine has 14k miles, never cuts out, just accelerates like a rocket. Before buying fuel cutout mods, etc. get them to make the car right. That way whenever you do mod it, you start with a known good system all round.

If I were you I'd have taken it right in as soon as it started. By now I'd be making footprints on someone's desk.

The reflash is a good thing, BTW. I don't understand everyone's fear on that one.

I'm not afraid of the reflash or anything. Problem is i live a good distance from the dealer and with my work schedule and other personal affairs its not always as easy as just taking it in. Was just checking to see if it was something they all did. My buddy thought maybe it was some kind of limiter they had on it because it kind of feels like hitting the rev limiter for a bit. Now that i know its not something that all of them do i can take it in and throw a fit. Thanks for the help guys.

I am taking mine in to the dealer as well. Apparently there are a couple recalls that haven't been performed on my car. They are tied together and have to do with emissions and fuel. So perhaps that will solve it! I will let you all know what happens.

look at my post about the speed6 bucking. I have had the same issue, and am about to take the car back for the 5th time. I have had the re-flash twice, and also had the most recent recalls taken care of. The last being the swirl valve. I have had it back for about a week and a half and it is still not responding. I am not sure what to do from here, but I am taking mine back to the dealer and giving them one more shot at fixing it.

Got it flashed today. Although I wasn't able to duplicate the cutting out before I dropped it off at the dealer, I wasn't able to duplicate it afterwards either, and no noticeable loss of power or anything. So I suppose time will tell.

The re-flash shouldn't cut power. Again, I have had it done twice and never had an issue. The bucking is the problem but, I have noticed with the new valve better engine response, but the car is still bucking at times. Keep us posted if you get the hesitation still. Did they perform the diagnostic to check the swirl valve???

Looks like they only did the TSB, nothing about a swirl valve. And it still has fuel cut occasionally. At least what I think is fuel cut. Very brief, somewhat scary sudden loss of power, then it gets it back and keeps going. Split-second jerk... I almost try to expect it, but then it doesn't do it. Then when I am least expecting it during acceleration, WHAM it scares the crap out of me. Very frustrating. Especially when it will be hard to duplicate and show the dealer. I will be calling tomorrow.

I agree, I understand the frustration, I have been going through it for months now. The only good thing for me is the dealer's Speed Tech, has been able to personally have the car hesitate when he was driving it to check it out. That was the 2nd time it when in for the issue. Let me know what they tell you, as I am calling my dealer today (hopefully) as well.
