CS spipe mounting idea

I just picked up a corksport Spipe today. I already have a 2.5" Jpipe, a nice flex pipe and a 3" midpipe.

i am reading alot of threads about the CS spipe breaking at the welds.

I already have solid mounts but what I am debating is getting a nice heavy duty brace made that is welded to the existing 2.5" J pipe and mounts in the same location as the stock j pipe brace (most people forget there is a bracket to hold the spipe stock)

does anybody think this is overkill since i already have a flex pipe and awr/medieval mounts?

seems like a $10 insurance policy on an expensive part to me, just wondering if anyone else did the same or thought about it. I never want to replace the damn thing so this seems like the only logical step.

also, does anyone have a dyno of stock vs CS spipe? cant find one anywhere

thanks, jeff

I believe CS recommends getting upgraded motor mounts before installing their s pipe to prevent breaking at the welds

ive also been reading around and almost all of the threads i see about cracked msp manifolds and cracked CS spipes are from people with 2.5" or 3" Jpipe back exhausts and none of them seem to have this brace either. Im thinking the brace is essential to keeping the manifold and S pipe in one piece as the back and forth movement of the engine and exhaust will naturally break whatever the weakest link in the system is. since a solid 3" pipe aint gonna break, the Spipe and manifold are next in line to break during hard launches and gear changes. heck even on rough starts in 1st during bumper to bumper traffic.

well i guess im 1 gasket away from letting everyone know how it turns out

exactly, cracked Spipes and manifolds everywhere, nobody running a simple $10 brace..lol

I just recently picked up a CS s pipe as well and since I don't want mine to break either I am interested to hear what you come up with. I have AWR/Medieval/SU mounts and a Vibrant with a flex pipe.

I personally think it will break, the way your gonna be driving the car. I say you weld that b**** up even more and see if it holds, and a brace.

The gains will probably be like 5hp. I've got a stock pnp s-pipe and manifold, it add's power. Not much but add's.

I have been running my cs downpipe for over a year and I drive my car hard I have awr front and rear mounts. No problems here.

i did this with my vibrant exaust that has a tab welded on like the stock one and it ripped right off my exhaust. it put a nice hole in my exhaust the size of a quarter. i only have mm inserts tho from awr and rr racing.

lol my stocker never broke when i had stock exhaust so i will just make sure its even stronger than the stocker. sounds like you need new exhaust hanger rubber or better hangers alltogether
