Crazee build

I'm a total noob when it comes to engine management- what all do you need?

Things I'm pretty sure you need:
A wideband 02 sensor
the engine management device (Microtech, AEM, Splitsecond.....)

Anything else? Any kind of OBDII code scanner?

Since all of my updates have been "sprinkled" thru alot of other threads I follow, I figured today was as good a day as any to consolidate:

Sweet! Any other feedback? Did the cam doc analysis help?

I just spent as much on a set of solid lifters as I did on the used cylinder head. Turns out it was the old style HLAs (no)\caveat emptor
Cylinder head was decked, seats radiused, 3 angle valve job, ports match, etc. (this process began back in august!)
I went all over creation to find these SOLID LIFTERS!
I could pay $11 each new from MSMS. I got em for $125 with shims off of an '01 Miata head.
Researched aftermarket options to little avail. Crossovers' kit requires the use of their custom supertech springs & ret.
CS sed they use OEM buckets in their 400hp Protege. They also mentioned that the part number for the Miata buckets was superceded by an FS part number replacement (I think, iirc)
Now they can FINALLY complete the setup of the cams in there and check my lash.

Install will run a days labor plus an extra day for installing all my other goodies (cabpatch)

well, as quickly as funds permit
Paying off headwork this week.
Oh, I also picked up a hiboost mani ^o^

ARGH!
I just got word that a strange problem has cropped up with my cam install.
THEY DON'T FIT IN THE HEAD!
Seems there might be a journal STILL not in spec!
DEJA VU all over again. Totally un-******-believeable.

I am requesting measurements before I call up Dema Elgin and find out how mine got:
a) not repaired
or
b) repaired poorly

I am "Murphy's Law" incarnate.

Well my update is ...pending

Tight clearance was created at cam cap.
Small amount removed from cap.
Likely caps were shuffled in a previous dis-assembly without proper reassembly (thanks)
This was also apparent from the screws also being out of numerical sequence.
Also need 2 more bolts to replace removed snapped ones.

I am growing concerned re: the kasman cam gears and the CPS.
Just read the other thread yesterday

Oh,
AEM is running new firmware after a visit to CA and Innovate WB is spliced into the unit.
Biggest challenge I face now is learning AEM Log Configurations
Innov has its own Logworks also.

Missing one front endlink.
Chris sez the angle of the rear endlinks is wack.
Removing 25mm spacers, need 5mm
Painting RX8 rims white
Fender massage
Rust stop / Touch up paint

COMPLETE
  1. Head work and setup for twiggy cams, kasman adj.cam gears(?)
  2. Accessory belts and t-belt, gaskets for VC, Cams and crank, head gasket and new OEM head studs.
  3. Upgraded AEM FIC firmware to latest release.
  4. Innov WB installed
Not sure yet
  1. Medieval Pulleys and RR UDCP.
  2. Delete EGR, install 626 intake mani (thereby deleting VICS and VTCS).
  3. Problem with stock fuel rail doesn't mount to it. I have 626 fuel rail and inj, but I would prefer we go with custom fuel rail.
  4. exhaust leak
  5. Got a set of P5 AND RX8 wheels in nicer condition than mine. Gonna paint em WHITE!
  6. 1.8l coil-pack
  7. Remove spacers
Open
  1. Retune
  2. Tranny flush
  3. Find that damn RATTLE from the back. Still present after we removed rear bumper added some foam adhesive strips, no change.
  4. Replace endlink, relube bushings, find new fix for RSB

bump for a update on the AEM FIC! I've been readign up on this setup a little over the past few days. Someone actually created a entire thread to setting this thing up.
