cosworth parts?

Guys, forgive me for my ignorance, but how does a new intake improve the performance? And by approx how much? I'm assuming there must be some good reasons to spend $700....

PS-I heard from some other people that Cosworth is quality stuff, this ture?

they are claiming a 27hp over stock to 172 (duratec 2.3) with their manifold, intake and ecu reflash. they are also claiming a 200hp "stage 2" package, and a 230hp "stage 3" package

the "stage 2" package has cams, a 67mm throttle body, and a header, and a reflash.

no word on the "stage 3" package yet.

it's under sales -> d-power.

Let me tell you, if I was rollin a 3, and didn't wanna go turbo, I'd hit that. My mother, who does own a 3, is currently contemplating getting that intake mani...cause she wouldn't mind a bit more get up and go.

I'm also guessing that there will be better gains on the mazda 2.3. I'm hoping for close to 200 at the wheels(rockon)(thumb)

Wow that intake manifold looks pretty damn sick.

AzMz3 - What do you think of it?

Word is they will have packages for the Mazda3. If anyone is wanting to do a compete N/A build without the guess work of mixing and matching parts...this is it. The intake manifold along should be on every serious modders Mazda3.
It is a good package, even all of the Focus tuners have said this is probaly the best streetable kit out there.

Even if they don't have Mazda specif kits we will still be able to use most of the parts with the help of the SCT.

Your hoping for the gains to be associated of the variable timing right?

tgv121281 - I believe the intake manifold feeds more air from the throttle body to the pistons.

On this note, wouldn't the larger throttle body be a shoe-in for the intake manifold to have it's greatest power gains? I couldn't see having the throttle body being small and a larger intake manifold. (this is if my explanation of the intake manifold is correct though.) (dark)

Why is it that this would be for N/A tuners? Wouldnt you see the same gains if you went forced induction? And if most of the gains are due to the larger throttle body, can you just get a larger throttle body rather than the whole mani? I'm confused so if some of these comments are off the wall just slap me right in check!

PS-2004mz-thanks for the input!

anybody know of any other companies developing turbo kits other than hiboost.com, for those who might be interested in forced induction?

It will be for all serious tuners, but if you are going the N/A route and want to squeeze every streetable HP/TQ out of it you will need that intake manifold.
Larger Throttle bodies are more for throttle response than making power.
Beside FI a throttle body seems to be the most noticeable mod to do...even on a stock car....In my opinion.
