Corksport Chip Upgrade.....

(lurk) Does anyone have the Corksport chip in their MSP? If so, does this chip actually fix the fuel maps or advance ignition timing? Anything to truely upgrade our current chip? (fight) If it merely increases boost to 9 lbs., that 25 hp is justified. I believe a chip with "efficient" maps would get us near that with stock boost.

EFFICIENT:

definition: Not that s*** the morons at Mazda put in there.

I have a theory that Mazda intentionally gave us s*** ECU's. (fight)

Why? With an effective ECU program, we would be fairly close in performance, with an RX8, on stock boost.

Back to the subject....Does anyone have this upgrade? (pow)

We do not have an E-prom style chip if that is what you are asking.I keep up on things pretty colsely and have heard no mention of this.

Matt

The boost being upped to 9psi with the Corksport piggyback is separate...it does alter the fuel & timing maps.

The 25WHP gain is with the altered maps AND the 2psi increase.

you do know what the advantage of having our ECU?

Dude thats a good assumption i was thinking, because for our cars handling, and with a good computer, it would problably be better performance wise than an RX8. Now granted you got RX lovers that would still want the 8, but those guys that want an RX8 to be cool would problalby have paid less for our car. Because 1 its more rare, and 2 i think it looks better. But they bought the 8 because they want to feel all special driving one and don't even know anything about cars otherwise.........so i think they were trying to target these type of people.......like the guys that get 350z just because they think its cool blah blah blah. If nissan did the same with sentra they would've prolly got that.

Talk about getting off topic. Anyway, I personally think the Corksport chip is entirely too much $$ for the minimal gains & that the RX8 looks damn good in certain colors & with the rotary accents.

PCM data *is* stored in EEPROM memory according to Mazda.

And just FWIW, it's not a chip, it's a piggyback that will override the stock ECU's settings. :D[/ass]

It wasnt off topic........he started the thread and said it...

Oh s*** im off topic though... lol

Um, Corksport's piggyback is about ready to ship. MPI Tuner is either shipping or about to ship. There are numerous others.. PLEASE, please, PLEASE look at the new "Engine Management/Tuning" section for info about piggybacks and such.
