Corksport Bronze-oil Shifter Bushings???

:
2016 Mazda CX-5 GT AWD w/Tech & i-Activesense
Installed these bushings the other day along with my home-made short shifter (more on that later) and when I went to tighten the bolt for the shifter I went to the recommended tourque or there abouts as I don't have a tourqe wrench and the shifter was extremely hard to move. The dirrections say about 12-15 ft/lbs. I loosened the nut until I could shift some what easy. Know after driving for a few days the shifter has gotten much easyier, should I go back under and tighten things up a bit more. I didn't think the nut was very tight at all, I couldn't turn it by hand but used very little tourqe with my wrench when putting it on. What do you guys think?

my guess would be treat it like a alternator belt? tighten it until u hit the stock mark.

The stock Mark? Don't know what your talking bout there, sorry. Anyone else have expercience with these bushings and how tight did you install them?

My 06 Mazda 3 is knocking

2006 Mazda 3 knocking! Need Help!!!

My 3 has 167 thousand kms on it and it has always had a faint ticking sound but recently over the past month it has started knocking in addition to the ticking but only at certain rpms during acceleration and deceleration and it is getting progressively worse. It is quite loud now and I'm worried. I took it to a local mechanic and he thinks one of the lifters is stuck. I read about seafoam treatment but does anyone think this would work in this case because this noise is not a ticking, its a knocking and its quite loud? Thanks in advance for any advice.

What the does this have to do with shifter bushing?

It has nothing to do with bushings, I just can't figure out how to post a new thread to help with the problem I'm having with my 3.

First try going into the Mazda 3 forum not the Protege5 forum. Second On the top of all the forum pages just before the topics start there is a "New Thread" buttom. Click on that to start a new thread. If you can't start a new thread from clicking on that email one of the moderators there may be some problem on your account. Third, it's considered rude to thread jack other people's threads like that. Don't make a habit of it please.

I would help you with your problem if I knew anything about the 3's, but I own a P5 so sorry. Now get the F-- out of my thread!!!! :) Just playing.

Torque to 12 foot pounds and try the shifter. Does it work well? Smoothly? done.

If not - try loosening the nuts a wee bit. Did it get better? If not - disassemble and figure out what is binding...

if i remember correctly, the lower bolt on the shifter should have a lock-nut. if it does, it only needs to be threaded on tight enough to get the threads into the locking part of the nut. you actually WANT that bolt slightly loose, so that it doesn't bind up your shifter.
