I have a bright red 240SX w/ a big ol FMIC and no front license plate and the only time I was pulled over was becuase I was speeding. If you don't drive like a dumbass or have a too loud exhuast, than you wont have a problem. I really don't have a problem w/ cops even looking twice at my car since I drive the speed limit and just cruise in it. Also, my exhaust is not loud and doesn't look like a coffee can run of the mill exhaust. So that helps too.

same thing happened to me in VA. huge 18 wheeler in front of me. We following flow of traffic. I get pulled over, truck accelerates and passes slower traffic. I was upset.

yeah, **** Virginia troopers... if I don't ever have to drive in Virginia again (not likely) I'd be a happy person.

Oh and this reminds me I should to make a topic to see if anyone else's speedometer is off... because I was going about 74... I told the cop that and he was like "well if you really were, I wouldn't have written you a ticket"... d-bag, couldn't come down two fcking mph's.... (boom03)

I got pulled over for doing 57 in a 45 and told the cop that I was new to the car and that I wasn't watching the speedo, just cruising in 5th, which was a lower speed in my old car. I was a load of s***, but he let me off with a warning. Then again, I bought a Cosmic Blue SPEED, not a red cop magnet.

Yep, mine is black and only one ticket in the last year. 87 in a 55 and it would have been hard for the cop not to notice as we were on a two lane twisty going opposite directions. Other than that, cops don't even give it a second glance and I speed like crazy all the time.

I just don't agree with the color thing at all. No real data supports it.

I have got one ticket in my red speed3. I am guessing because I was speeding (74 in a 55). That might be why versus the color...

Let's see. I got a one speeding ticket in my black G35 coupe. (45 in a 30)
I got a 2 speeding tickets in a completely boring gold camry sedan (all of them at least 11 over)
I got 1 speeding ticket in a black 92' honda civic sedan.
I got 1 speeding ticket in a gold 86' Toyota Tercel hatchback.

Apparently, gold is the most targeted color by this misguided logic. (Or maybe it was because I was speeding and got caught?)

if there is an answer, I think there needs to be a context to the situation.

if it's just you speeding along relatively alone, then yeah cop magnet (with no regards to color) just because there is nothing else

if your in a "pack" going down the highway BUT your this super glow red color, just by instinct I think the cop is going to point at you first.

if it's say you (black, white, grey) and another car (a 2 door for ex.) then I bet the 2 door would get pulled.

I agree it is a crap shoot, meaning there are so many factors involved, the color red contributes a relatively minor amount in and of itself.

I once got a 550 dollar fix-it ticket from a cop, purely because of my color

the ticket:
front window tint
broken windshield
no front license plate
"intake modification" (I had no intake modification?)

basically, went through an intersection (not speeding at all), and two motorcycle cop pulled me over at the same time....as they were walking up to my car they were point my paint out to the other and laughing their asses off....then they walked up and started to harass me about the car like crazy =)

so yes, it does happen

yes, I am quite positive....my front windows were rolled down as I went through the intersection, and they didn't notice the windshield and front license plate until after they began harassing me over nothing ;-)

Did you fight the "intake modification" part of the ticket?

no, because it was a ten dollar fine after I took it to a state ref (which why would I fail?) so I didn't bother....it would be twenty or thirty dollars in gas money to drive to stockton multiple times to fight it *shrugs*

it was more of the long ass fix-it ticket that I got in relation to the color of my car that I was pointing out lol
