Considering new radiator.

Patrick, I have an AWR radiator on the way here. The stock fans should work, I thought they did on the DG Motorpsorts car.

I think AWR is working on a fan set up to flow better than the stockers.

I got the larger one. The "high performance radiator." The competition one is shorter and thicker. Which might cause a problem with turbo clearance.

So, the high performance radiaotr is sitting in my living room. That stock fans should work with it, but like I say, Tony is working a nice set up for fans.

Do you guys want pics? I order a lot of stuff from AWR this week.

It all looks top notch!

Yeah dude, time for pictures. How long did it take for you to get it after you ordered it? I am trying to get mine before the state-wide meet comming up on the 19th of March.

I ordered mine through Mitch at Protege5online.com and it took about a week and a half (I think)

It just got here on Monday of this week.

nope, I have the same one as stutters, the High performance one. I have an FMIC so I don't need the space for the factory one. And I can't comment on fit, because it's sitting in the garage right now.

Here we go...pics...

A couple of shots. One shows the two holes for the FP turbo heat shields!

While at Nopi .. Fluidyne had a P5 in their booth with their new radiator. I just emailed them to see what was going on with it and they said the project had been shelved :(

Chris,

How thick does it look compared to stock?
It looks about the same thickness. I'll know better once I get the dang thing put in. I'll measure both and take pics and stuff.

I'm thinking I might have to get a radiator cap like yours and maybe the thermostat.

But before I do that, I was looking at getting the water/oil temp dual gauge from Flyin' Miata to monitor changes from the radiator, and the oil cooler and such...If I can figure out where to mount the sending units to get accurate temps.

I just read my coolant temps from the ECU using the Nology PDA Dyno. Oh, and on the radiator cap and thermostat, get them thru Corksport. On the radiator cap, make sure it has the green paint on top and not the pinkish paint. The Pinkish-top Mazdaspeed radiator cap is for the automatics as Pirana discovered.

Chris, did you ever say how long it took you to get your radiator?
Oh yeah sorry.

I ordered on Saturday by calling Tony. It was supposed to have gone out on Monday but there was a little confusion on my shiiping adress so it went out on Tuesday.

I got it yesterday afternoon.

So, technically Tuesday to Friday, three days.

Green top radiator cap, I wonder if it'll fit? It should. And the thermostat. Corksport. Got it.

Big change or no on thermostat? I've been asking around and no one seems to really be able to answer, but, is it possible to get to much stuff and the car won't be able to warm up enough in say -10 weather? Just wondering...
