I am considering buying an 07 MS3 with 22000 on it. It has several mods most of which I have no idea about. It has an hks intercooler, intake and exhouse system. Car is in immaculate condition. Can someone help me out by telling me whether it is worth buying and possible horsepower added. Thanks

I have added the pics below. can anyone tell me what the parts are? sory for being a tard.

considering HKS does not make an MS3 intercooler (unless its a HKS core with custom piping) it sounds a little shady to me.

Weather or not its 'worth it' is going to depend on the price and condition of the car. If the mods are installed properly and the car has been taken care of it would be worth it.

Those mods would most likely add 10-20whp to the car.

How much of an exhaust? Any tune? What are they asking for it? Running stock boost level?

EDIT: And yeah, the HKS intercooler thing kinda threw me, too.

if it is HKS, its only a catback. I would imagine if the car is tuned or has some sort of a boost controller, the seller would have told the OP.

Thought I included the price. Dealer has it at 20. Intercooler is an ETS, my mistake again. He says that everything was installed by mazda dealer and therefore the car has maintained the factory warranty. I am sorry on the quantity that I had listed. I guess that I should have said a few or maybe one more than a couple.

Kept manufacturer warranty with someone elses intercooler? Cool dealer. Where are they at? 20k seems high when you can get a new one for 22500.

I'd have to agree to a point. Considering the depreciation of a car once it leaves the lot, you're only getting about a 10-15% price drop over a brand new car with <10 miles on it. Granted, it'd be stock...and you'd have to put down about $1500-$2000 to get those parts (and probably void the warranty in the process), but still. It's a tough call. 22k miles IS a lot for a year old car, though.

I bought my 07 with 7,000 miles on it for 20k almost exactly a year ago so, yeah, that price is a little high.

If a Mazda dealer is saying that they will warranty an ETS intercooler and other non-Mazda mods I would make sure you get the in writing.

For that price I would just finance a brand new MS3, then you know that nobody messed with it. I am personally not an advocate of buying previously modded cars unless you know the owner.

I was thinking that it was a bit high though wasnt sure with the mods (3) that it has. it also has factory sat nav and rims and tires.

Don't pay more than 18k out the door (Tax/tag/title) for that car.
You can buy a new one for just a few $$ more.
Hell I got my 2007 last year this time tax+tag+title out the door for 19k
You have to just work with them and go back and forth and be firm.
Have the attitude that you will walk out that door and not turn back.
They can work those numbers.

With the extra adders, going by the pics and description, maybe extra 20-30hp. Considering used stock 2007 MS3 are reselling for around $17,000 to $18,000. $4,000 more for about an extra 30hp is BS! Go and buy a new MS3 Sport at that price. All the performance, but no Navi, leather, Bose, HID, or LED tailights. If you can live without all of that, then go buy a new MS3 Sport.

I do not believe a dealership would install a tmic and let the owner keep the warranty. With all the problems Mazda has been having with these turbo seals going bad, I do not believe they would do this.

Why would some pay a dealership $50-$70/hr to instal a tmic? Takes 2 screws for the cover, 3 nuts on the tmic, 2 clamps, one on turbo side and the other on tb side. Pull off, replace with new tmic and tighten everything back done. Very easy to do, takes about 30 minutes to complete.

The red tubes going to the intercooler are upgraded "boost tubes". The stock ones are rubber, are weak, and can expand under boost. Those are 5-ply reinforced silicone and are not only stronger, but are better insulated from ambient heat.

I just ordered a set myself :)
