conducting test need help

Ok ladies and gents, I have bitten the bullet and will be conducting test to see how efficient my fmic is compared to the stock tmic. I have bought a infrared temp gun. I will test the temp of the air after the turbo and right before the tb. This will be done at idle with hood closed for 3 min after car is warm, and after a 5 miles loop.
I will also test the temp at the intake filter and the temp coming off the downpipe. I have wrapped my drop pipe with DEI header wrap and i am interested to see the difference. I also plan on do the surface of the hood in the shade. Does anybody have any other test that i can run between my modded speed3 and basically stock speed3(cobb sri)?
My question is can i test how efficient it is any other way except bring it to a dyno. i have plans to do so but don't have the money at this time to rent a dyno for a hour to find some stuff data.

Why would you buy a infrared temp gun? How is that going to work? You'll just be reading the outside temp of the piping which will be a lot different than the air traveling through it.
It would have been a lot easier and a helluva lot more accurate to have bought some thermocouples and a multimeter capable of reading them. Or they have things like this that you can use with any DMM.

In any case, this is a good test and I'd be interested in the results. Just don't think you can get good results with a IR gun.
