Component video switching via Receiver??

Thnx Greg,
so far I'm learning to live with the issue as it isn't hurting my gameplay.

You do seem quite knowledgeable on this topic, so thanks, and I may just try purchasing @ a local store to see if I have a bad unit or not.
However, the RX-V650 and the HTR5760 I was considering both have the same power rating @ 20-20k, (7 x 95)
Please see links.

as far as the xbox is concerned, if you have problems with 480i, and 480p try this

turn on xbox,no game in it, just have it sitting at the dashboard. If you can't see the dashboard, don't worry.

grab a stick, push down on the two analog thumbstick, and pull the right/left triggers at the same time. This switches from 480i/480p back and forth and so on.

If it doesn't work, you probably have not updated your dashboard in a while. Try connecting to live, or grab a game with a update on it

So, I did this and the menu does come on. However, when I turn the xbox off and back on again, no dashboard. I have to do the switch again to get a display.

So I guess my question is......what does this mean? Do I need the update?

denon does a similiar thing with their models, one line goes to one line goes to small HT specialized shops, the other line goes to crap places like sears

ive havent looked into it much but the power ratings are the same on similiar models but some of the interior components may be different as well as the exterior look and remote

I'm a bit of a dumbass. I got to looking at the back of my tv last night. The component input I was using (on the tv for game consoles) only accepts 480p+ video, while the second component input accepts 480i+. So I just moved the dvd player to the 480p+ and the video games to the other input and now all is good.

Thanks for the help though.
