Here's a link to a pretty extensive neutral review on the STD R3's. The only bad thing is that its for a cavalier i beleive. One of the downsides that the OP wrote was that the ride was very uncomfortable for a DD... speculates that the springrates are too high as it is a universal kit made for heavier cars than his... so it would probably be even rougher for us as our cars are even lighter..GREENSLEEPER.. can you chime in please!?!?! I would also love for somebody with the Tein SS to chime in... I need to retitle this thread..

Changed my mind about the bilsteins I ordered the ST's from Texas. I think they will be a good choice.

I personally think they should have had a different name than "STD". Makes me thing of all sorts of other unpleasant things....

Well... Like I said before, I am very pleased with my R3. They compare to my custom rated/valved FLT-A2RS from JIC's, are way better than my custom rated/valved TEIN Flex's and a notch below my KW V3's (which everyone will agree that KW have an excellent reputation).

I think too that the problem is the... car here. Not to diss anything, but those car have horrible chassis...

Hahahaha, long name is Standard Suspension but everybody use STD... and everybody can have one too llllllllllol!

I don't know how they are over speed bumps, check my ride height! I must go slow all the time over them, sideways.

As for dilatation joints, cracks, etc. Very well.

Listen, you must understand that ANY shock/springs or coilovers WILL BE STIFFER than stock. The main difference is how well the shock is built. The more quality shock you have, to more insane spring rate you can run without having a bone-crushing ride.

In example: I took a ride in a GR STi equipped with all the bars, sways, links you can imagine, plus a set of 12/10 KW Clubsport coilovers. Man, those was terrific! About as comfy as my current R3 (6/3)!!!! Of course I can talk about suspension types, geometry and all, but this is to give you an idea.

I like the STs because I can lower it a bit more tha the B-14s. I think the helper springs will help with the ride and I got them for less than $900.

So you did buy the STs and they DO have helper springs? We've been hearing mixed comments on if the STs do or don't have helper springs

so you are saying these are comperable in quality and ride comfort to higher end KW coilovers? about the speed bumps.. i guess im asking... can i live with these as a comfortable option for daily driving? I know any of these will be fine for rare autocross, but its also my daily driver. i don't want to regret my purchase or have people who don't know much about suspension (my wife lol) complain about how i spent money to make my car less comfortable.

According to the dealer pics which they say are actual pics of the item they do have helper springs.

I just take my wife for a drive in my wrangler with the lift and she doesn't complain about ride anymore. I just explained to her with gas prices climbing this is my hot rod now.

No, read again. No way those are as refined as the V3's or Clubsport's. They are very well controlled, much better than the Ksport and astonishly better than my 2500$ custom Tein Flex's.

My girlfriend like those, but THEY ARE STIFFER. Those are about 3 times stiffer than stock rates! But THEY ARE valved accordingly.

If you want stock-like ride, sorry to say that, but you got to keep your stock suspension.

99% of the time ST (KW V1's) have helpers.
