Cobb AP Discussion Thread

Can you sync your AP with any computer with AP manager? My main laptop with my APM on it won't connect to the internetz, so I can't update the firmware or anything, so I need to use another laptop. I loaded APM on the other one, but it won't recognize my AP. It plugs in and fires up, but doesn't show the vehicle info or maps.

does the APM recognize the AP. also what OS are you running on the laptop. if your using VISTA 64bit. you wont br able to connect the ap to the APM, because there are no drivers for the vista.

Well that answers that.

Can I download a driver somewhere or does it not exist?

Now I need to get APM loaded onto my netbook somehow.

Post that link for all to see, I'm running vista x64 and using VMware to run a 32 bit XP virtual machine with the APM on it. It works for now.

Has there been anybody in the MS6 community able to get FFS working? I've not seen anything on the other boards.

I know there are a handful of MS3 guys who got it working.

the link i had was for the other forum. and i think its not allowed to post other forums link.

Is that the same frankenstein you are using to use your AP on Vista?

Basically. It works for now until Win7 comes out. I also use mine for the DH, since that also doesn't work on Vista x64.

Here's my setup for the LC/FFS:

Here's my setup for the MS6:

FFS Limiter: 4500
LC Limiter: 3800
Normal Limiter: 6700
SL Hysteresis: 4
VSL: 200

Going to check it out right now

I'm fairly certain you'll need to drop your VSL. Otherwise you won't be able to take the car over 3800 revs until you break the 200mph barrier. Good luck with breaking 200!

Well, I guess I just turned my map into a economy map LOL. I'll make some quick changes and reload it here shortly.

The VSL is a little bit misrepresentative. VSL for this purpose is a condition by which the launch control looks to see if it should engage or not. If your car speed is below the VSL then your engine rev level will be limited to what you put in for your launch control RPM.

It's really a lot more important of a setting for the MS3 guys. It gives them the ability to have a fine-tuned way to limit wheel spin. With FWD, they are tending to set their LC in the low 3000 rev range and their VSL (what mph the LC stops engaging) at 10-15mph.

For MS6's though, since we really aren't concerned with wheelspin we want to rev up a bit higher with LC (around 4000 revs). The VSL doesn't really matter much for us as long as the VSL is lower than the speed you would reach at your revs you set in the LC. For example, if you set LC at 2500 revs and set your VSL to 20mph you would gimp your first gear and be limited to 2500 revs causing you to prematurely shift into second so you could break the 20mph threshold. Only after you break the 20mph threshold (set in your VSL) will you be able to take the engine over 2500 revs.

I lowered my rev limiter and I suggest you do the same while you're testing out FFS.

I dropped mine to 6000 instead of 6700. I still can't get it to work.

here is a nice little log i did of the launch control, but i didn't actually launch, i'll do that another time. this was with launch control set at 4500rpm, even though it looks like 4700. generates about 7.8psi of boost.
