Cobalt SS Ring record 8:22.85 & 103mph in the 1/4

Actually... I wish it did solve the debate but it doesn't. Mostly.. (and correct me if I am wrong) this is about pure "stats". 0-60, 1/4 mile, 0-100. The track racing is actually more important, but unfortunately not the discussion at hand...

You sir... are a fool. Check your stats.... Your ad hominem attack about the BMW means nothing... Yes... Camry's and Honda's will beat us! They cost more... I can accept that. Why can't you? (Notice the Camry tied on 0-60 and beating us on the 1/4) STOCK vs. STOCK

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...0_to_25_000_feature/2007_mazdaspeed_3_feature

That's with the Mag drivers for Car & Driver for that particular day. Means shyt... The MS3 has been recorded for 5.4 sec 0-60 and 14 @101mph in the 1/4 which is faster than both the Accord and Camry. Why can't I accept what? I have nothing to accept but you do apparently.Oh, and I'm really sorry you get beat by BMW's with 225hp perhaps a driving school would help. Just trying to help :)

Oh and for the time in my sig...14.37 @99.81 <- This was achieved with a "bogged" launch and riding out 4th!!! My car is very much capable of running faster than this new cobalt ss and all I have is the Cobb SRI which cost me a whole $175.00.

If this is about pure stats, then I shall take my leave from this thread with the same way I end all "pure stats" threads:

Bench racing is like playing Halo 3 on easy. Go out and race and find out for yourself.

Dude (MS3077)... your response is pathetic. You disregard data from the magazine only when it is convenient for you. If you use C/D data consistently... You have no grounds to stand on. (Including the 330 performance package!) You defend this car to much sir. (a.k.a., "I think the lady protests too much") You really should just get over the the fact that their are dozens of cars that kick our butts 0-60. Just add the Cobalt to the list of a few in the same price range.

I just think maybe you need to learn how to drive the car.

How do I have no ground to stand on?? I've been supporting my claims with facts.

Actually I think your responses are pathetic. I've been proven you wrong every time. And don't worry you will get defended because you are a female and guys want to jump in an act all "macho". This is to be expected...And again if you are getting "Walked" by a 3-series BMW's with (225-235hp) you might want to get some driven lessons. Just my advice, please don't take offense.

i know what this thread is missing.

srt4 is fastar

lol!

You know I'm getting a little tired of defending my car...
Most of the cars we've mentioned are pretty equal in acceleration capabilities and the winner is most often going to be the one with the better "driver mod"

I don't know about this new cobalt ss though, seems to do all the leg work for you. Pretty soon you wont even have to do anything it will just drive it self all together.

+1

Exactly!! The car does not drive itself and no two drivers are equal. Like a member said awhile back "driving is like having sex, some people are good at it and others just suck". However I will say it's easier to get consistent numbers in an automatic so beating that new Accord or Camry will require some good quick shifting.

It's really not that hard I've dusted plenty (5-6)
and yes they were the newer ones with the v6

One thing is for sure... You can't drive like a noob and expect to put down good #'s in this car. Definitely a drivers car.

The cobalt ss on the other hand seems to do all the hard work for you. Almost like driving an automatic. - Not my kind of car. yes I know you don't have to use those features but I'm sure most will.

i'm just going to put it out there...

anyone who is driving a stock MS3 and loses to a 268bhp automatic 25k pound car in the quarter mile, should probably take driving lessons.

it IS a drivers race but you'd have to be a really poor driver to lose to most of the cars in our price range.

our very own "DRIVER" ran a 13.7 bone stock in his MS3. a camry will NEVER run a 13 second quarter mile stock.

all drivers being equal:

MS3 > cobalt SS, VW GTI, Civic SI, RSX-S, Camry (wtf?), srt-4 (haha, jk).

also, i'd like to add that i'm not on any sort of "high horse" and i think all of the cars listed are awesome.

AND... i think the new SS will be a great performance car but it still lacks refinement. :)

well said.

i do the flat foot no shift deal, with no problems. actually, to me, the car drives much better when going no-lift shifts under WOT.

props to chevy for actually promoting it

So you don't shift your car it will shift for you to?

Not really under attack, it's just some people want to undermine its performance capabilities for some odd reason.
i didn't see that. i saw people reporting on another car's capabilities and immediately it went to needing to justify that the MS3 is better because of xyz. be happy with what you drive whether it's the best thing since sliced bread or not. it's yours either way, love it and let everyone else do and say what they want

Wow... I haven't seen so much joint bone sucking since a Catholic boys festival. Seriously. Is that the best you guys can offer? Your right. I am the worst driver in the history of MS3s. I have never driven WAY better cars for over 12 years. I must be a noob! (sp?)

Guys... seriously, I love my MS3, however it is no match for even a new G37. So please....let the ego go.... Once you start including price you have not a foot to stand on....
