Clutch problem

My father drove my car today and told me that he thinks the pressure plate is going. Or he said if my clutch is hydralic(sp) that the fluid might be low. If it is hydralic where would I fill up the fluid and what would I use? And if it is the pressure plate do I get a new pressure plate or have a new clutch installed. I myself noticed that it has been slipping lately. Any answers would be much appreciated! Thanks

when pushing clutch in it feels fine as when letting clutch out it feels fine to me. My father said it didnt. But when im driving in say 3rd 4th or 5th and i push the gas to the floor my car will rev up before actually accelerating. Also when I down shift and hit it it once agains revs up before actually accelerating, and when I shift at redline from second to third it once again does the same thing. Im not even sure it is the clutch but im just assuming it is. I have no cel so I dont think it has anything to do with the engine itself but if anyone could help I would like that!

sounds like your clutch is fuxed

once it starts slipping it will die soon if you aren't careful. sounds like it's dying

if the fluid were low you'd have the brake light come on

clutch = toast

sorry - they're spendy

Search = your friend, there are good recommendations out there.

cool thanks a clutch doesnt bother me my fathers bestfriend is a mechanic. Hes been a ford mechanic for 25 years, and he has a lift at his house. Hell install the clutch for me for nothing so all i have to do is pay for a clutch. Anybody have good ideas for what clutch i should go with around $400 and under.

Spec... deffinitely http://**************************.com/cart/default.php?cPath=23_40

stage 1 or 2 unless you want to turn up the boost pretty good in the future, if so then get a stage 3 hybrid

I have just under 26000mi I dont beat it to bad! Ha Ha

lol... gas to the floor at 3rd, 4th, and 5th?? shifting at redline from 2nd to 3rd? yeah, not hard at all! no worries though, i feel the car was meant to be driven.

I said i dont beat on it to bad. LOL any way I ordered the spec stage 2 clutch so hopefully this will cure my problem.

hey speed, let us know how Spec stage 2 works out.
that's the clutch i will be upgrading to very soon....

and how are u installing it?
yourself? shop? dealer?

Yes will do. Actually I am lucky my fathers best friend is a mechanic and has a lift at his house so he will be doing the install for me for FREE!!! Plus i will also be installing my GT spec rear lateral arms as well. Hopefully it should all be done by the end of next week.

Mines doing the same thing.. around the same miles. Clutch is slipping and will die soon. Spec or ACT seems to be the recommended clutch, in fact ive got a poll going in the Engine Section right now.

Also, if you order a Spec, you dont have to order the MSP specific clutch, the regular protege clutch fits fine.
