Clutch... HELP!?!?

Ok here is my dilema, lately my clutch "pops" out of 2nd gear if I am going to slow. So I assuming that obviously something is wrong with my clutch. I would like to get this fixed but I, as well as many of you, have done some "modifications" :) I know that if I take it to Mazda they will reject it, at least I think. The most major mod I have done currently that they will notice is my CAI. Should I risk going to them and seeing if I can get the warrantied work done or should I go to a shop that does warranty work? Or should I remove the CAI, replace the original air box, and then take it in? Please help, curious to hear what others have done in these situations! I only have 9,000 miles on by the way. Could this be something different than needing to replace the whole clutch, or does that seem to be the answer? Thanks guys!

I assume you mean your shifter pops out of gear... A clutch is not your problem. The law states that a dealership can not deny a repair to be covered under warranty unless the can PROVE that one of your modifications caused the issue. Clearly a cai has nothing to do with your problem. Unless...... Maybe your cai is hitting your shifter linkage ??

Oh yeah sorry thats what I meant is my shifter. Hmmm... that could be a problem then because I do believe that they would come back and say that my CAI interferred with the linkage. Mainly due to the fact that I had to use a rubber malet to do a little pipe resizing so it wouldn't hit anymore. But do you think that if I took it to an shop outside from the dealer I would be able to get the warranty work done? I would assume they wouldn'y care a less about mods if they are able to convince Mazda to approve of the Warranty work. I know they sometimes send out reps from mazda when you do go private like that, but maybe it is worth a shot...

I bet its your CAI making contact with your shift linkage/weight. Did you have this problem before you installed it?

No, so maybe I will check that out. But wouldn't it also have the problem in the 4th and sixth gear as the linkage shifts the same direction in those gears as well? But it seems like it does it at slower speeds in 2nd, like when I am shifting at a lower RPM. It has no problem going into 2nd and sticking no problem if I shift at a moderate speed at 3000-5000rpm. Ideally I would like to be shifting out of first at 2500-3000 at a casual speed, but thats when it pops.

Actually now that i think about it too, I dont think it is the CAI. Because the linkage or pieces that move under the hood when I shift move the opposite way in 2nd, 4th and 6th gear. Its Reverse, 1st, 3rd and 5th that would be affected if anything. Any other ideas people?

Could be a bad 2nd gear synchro..... Maybe sloppy stock motor mounts allowning too much movement and making it pop out ...?? If you are confident its not the cai, bring it to mazda.
