Clutch for my Mazdaspeed Protege

I just bought a 03.5 msp and the throwout bearing is no good. I have minor upgrades including fmic, motor mounts, intake, bov, and I think thats about it. I plan on puttin exhaust on later but thats prob all the upgrades I'll do. What clutch should I buy? I am considering Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit for $350 or at AdvanceAuto Parts they have one with limited lifetime warranty for $200... My guess is the warranty is VERY limited, but is it worth the extra $150 to go with Exedy stage 1 or are there any other clutches I should consider. Please help me out I really want the car fixed asap! Thanks!

The Exedy has good reviews. I'm in the process of deciding which clutch to go with as well, and the Exedy stage 1 seems to be a popular choice.

Whatever you plan to make within the next year, add 50-100hp room in the clutch's capability.

I'm running an exedy stage 1 and love it.

Exedy Stage 1 is a much better choice. The stock clutch is also made by Exedy. Don't buy a parts store brand. Whatever clutch you get follow the break-in period to the "T" and you won't need a warranty.

Have your rear main seal replaced at the same time you do the clutch set. More than a few people that run the Exedy Stage 1 make more power than what the advertised holding capacity is and have no problems.

i just burned up an exedy stage one. the only gear i had problems spinning the exedy clutch was 5th. all other gears hooked though. went with the act sprung 6 puck for about $50 more than the exedy. clutch pedal is a tiny bit more stiff but has alot higher clamp rate and torque hold compacity. my vote goes act.

You should prob mention that you rev your car to 9,000 RPM though, and likely beat the snot out of it. What turbo do you run again ?.... The Exedy Stage 1 has been run by several 300hp guys, and it does fine.

Exedy Stage 1 it is... Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it! I wish I could find this much help with the rear bumper lip. The dealership seems to not even have it I called with VIN and guy said he sees no lip on 03.5 msp. wtf

Well I believe they stopped making them so that is probably why.

GUILTY AS CHARGED! i am running the sc61 now. was running a 20g mitsu turbo at first which was nice but then traded to a garrett t3/t4. now found the beast i was looking for. read the the precision sc61 doesnt hold up to long on the dsm site but guess i will just have to find out. if it doesn't i guess its time to just get the gt35r or go holset.... mmmmmm holset. i alredy have one on my dsm and pulls 35psi nicely.
