Clunking in the rear after BC Coilover install

Hey guys, I've been trying to find this clunk in the rear of my car. I recently installed BC Coilovers this past weekend and everything went smoothly. All the bolts were tightened and I even triple checked. The clunking noise only happens when driving under 40mph. I crawl under the car and check but can't find the problem. Anyone have an idea of what this could be? It is only on the driver side. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

possibility that your strut length adj. doesnt match your spring height adj.

or your strut on that side is shot, check your sway bar too

yeah i will check the swaybar, it sounds like its bouncing back and forth/up and down, i am not too sure. As for as the shock height+spring height, its the rear strut/spring. I have it on the lowest setting without the locking ring removed, identical on both sides.

I'm 99% sure it's what Strick said. If the strut adjustment is higher than that of the adjustment that sits underneath the spring, it will cause the spring to jump around a bit, it's not compressed as much as it should be in certain conditions.

I struggled with this for 6 months after I installed mine. Since I adjusted the strut the problem has not returned once.

Check your endlinks too. I had the rattle for a while and gave up looking until I decided to crawl underneath the rear while the car was still on the ground. Turned out it was my endlink the whole time. I was able to twist it around by hand. It was metal on metal grinding for months and they stripped themselves out. Now I need new ones and decided to go with AWR. Besides, this just gives me an excuse to get new parts.

I have the rear struts and springs spun all the way down. Is this not even? I checked and both are spun down to the max, with the lower locking ring still on the spring.

you should be fine then. Check the endlinks and swaybar. Im unsure of anything else that could be making that noise. This suspension tends to make noises from time to time pending weather conditions and if its cold out.

I guarantee that the lower shock bolt has come loose. It happened to mine after install, first the passenger side and then the driver side. Grab the shock and see if it moves at all.

I'm having this same problem as well. Just installed the BC coilovers this weekend and didn't change any of the height adjustments...left everything as is out of the box. I'll check the end links / lower shock bolts tomorrow and let you know if that fixes anything.

+1

I lifted the car back up and re-tightened everything in the rear. Both lower shock bolts were a little loose along with one of the camber link bolts. After re-torque no more noise!
