Clunk Updates

I have had the E bushings on for about a month. I have had a clunk in the rear again for about a week. The clunk sounds a little different than it has in the past. I had the dealer check everything out underneath: exaust, shocks, and whatnot. Everything was fine. The piece of cardboard in the trunk that covers up the spare is completely loose and when I tap it, it makes an awful sound. It seems strange that this stupid piece could be the noise I am hearing. I will take that piece out this evening and test it tomorrow. If the clunk is still there, it must be the new E bushings have failed again or maybe I need a new bar like Newf said. I will keep you posted.

Mackdaddam, just ask your dealer about it -- chances are VERY good that they will know about the new bushings - even more-so now because the TSB was just released last week so it should be "fresh" in their mind. I had the exact same "dreadful" feelings that you did but they were unfounded - trust me this is nowhere NEAR as big of a headache as the ECU flash for the MSP. My dealership actually called me about the bushings but that was probably just because I had recently returned a "service survey" bitching that they didn't replace my bushings the last time I was in. So unless you've complained incessently before, they probably won't call you about it.

I'm finally getting mine installed tomorrow on the speed. We're not relacing the bar, and we're going to see if that alone works.

Sorry I haven't been around updating much. got a lot going on in my life right now, work, personal things etc. things far more important than this clunk issue right now. Since it's taking my so long to get my bushings put on, I'm kinda relying on some of you guys to let me know what you think.

Let me know what happens Albino Flash. PM me if you want.

I took that piece of cardboard out tonight. I always thought that it was attached somehow. It turns out it was just shoved between the sub and trunk floor. That held it in place, I guess?
I will see tomorrow if that was causing my newest clunk.

i talked to my dealer today... I can get the new "E" bushing when ever i get my lazy ass to the dealer.

BTW i am still 100% clunk free...

omg, that's priceless.

I got mine on today as well....nice and quiet again :)

really bad weather here now, so they'll get tested right good.

I ended up taking everything out of my trunk; sub, spare, and jack. I really wanted it to be something else, but it's the clunk again. I hate to say it, but this doesn't sound good. Next step is to get a new bar with the bushings, if I still have the car.

DING DING DING! And we have a winner! ^^^ first person to bust the E's!

Buckle up and hold on everybody, here we go again!!
(I know I'm being a little pessemistic here, but can you blame me? Really? :) )

I can't wait for Micaspeed!'s relocation kit. I'm salivating like Pavlov's dog! :D

It took about 5K miles for mine to get bad....

I will be getting the new E's tomorrow, so I will start my updated "how's it going" from then :)

My bar has never been replaced. The endlinks were two years ago. I will strongly suggest to my dealer that I need new bushings AND a new bar.

Tell them to relocate the bushings to the spot they should be. I don't think a new bar will help even if the old one was worn at the mounting points(not that they shouldn't give you one:)).

If the new E bushings are breaking and the bar is hitting the metal bracket, then they suck just as much as the other 4 "series". I really think that the bushing is not the answer for this.

Im going next wednesday to get the New E's, If I tell my service manager the bar might be worn from the pervious failed brushings will they replace it without question or are they going to give me, Theres nothing wrong with so we wont, In other words I dont care about your car and Im too lazy to install a bar on it. What Im trying to say is that When you get these New "E's" is it a requisite to get the bar replaced or is that going to be another operation in itself.

the Es are so far so good like everybodys been saying....

i think getting ALL of the handling back is even more rewarding than losing the clunk..... but again... thats just my 2 cents..

No it is not a requirement - i.e. it is not part of the TSB. It is at the "dealer's discretion" - meaning it will be a PITA to convince them to do it.
