Clunk Updates

Update on my part:

Got the new 156E's tonight. No clunk so far... will post updates! :D

Thank you all to whom have worked this issue

I've been letting the woman drive the car more often now. If there is anyone that can kill the bushings it's her :)

She says to me,

Stop telling me how to drive! Then looks for more.

I just shrug and shake my head :D

I'm looking for some winter steelies now... but she doesn't know how to drive stick THAT well.

Well I brought my car in this morning to have the clunk looked at. I'm hoping they'll try out this new bushing although I'm not gonna hold my breath on it's effectiveness.

Will a dealer ship these to me? There aren't any close by.

I really doubt it.. My dealer ordered me a new shift knob, and i had trouble getting there before 5 (service closed) they wouldnt let me come in and put it on myself...:wtf: :bs: takes 2 secs

I really doubt they will let you, also because they need your old ones back.. It might be worth a shot, but unless you got a real cool dealer, good luck.

I am taking the car in on monday the 24th to have the new bushings and bar looked at. I seriously hope it is the bar. If it is just the bushings again, I will be very upset, as will all of you.

Maybe if you have a nice dealer. I got lucky as when I brought my car in, they wanted to just look at it then would order the part, but as it turned out they already had the "E" bushing in stock so it all got done at once. Clunk is gone of course, but the big question is will it last?

I was finally able to get to the dealership today to have the new bushings put on. During a previous bushing replacement visit, they told me that they put more tape between the bushing and the bar because the previous failed bushings wore off the paint and made the diameter of the bar smaller and not as tight of a fit.

When they told me they were ordering the 156E bushings for my MSP, I suggested ordering a new sway bar too....and after a small amout of convincing (and Dist. Cust. Service Mgr. approval) they agreed.

Soo, as of 9:00am on this 19th day of November, 2003, I have a new sway bar with new 156E bushings. I'm in Southern New England, soo I'll update with any changes I encounter in the cold or warm and wet or dry weather on the not-so-smooth CT backroads.

I had the dealer install 156E bushings and "Flash" it before I took delivery on Monday. No clunk yet :D
