See thats where you're wrong. He's not a huge influence in my life. I don't attend his Church. I chose to attend LU because I wanted to attend school in a Christian environment. I respect the man for not being afraid to speak his mind and being able to apologize when he crosses the line. I also respect all the good things he's done for a lot of people of all races. But I do realize that the is a former racist and segregationist who for the most part changed his ways and has admitted to things he's done in his past. Heck , there was a time when interracial dating was a grey area at LU but I met my wife there.
The 3 people with the biggest influence on my life are Jesus Christ, my wife, and my parents (who are Democrats who hate Bush and don't particularly like Jerry Falwell either)
The last thing my dad said to me when he dropped me off at LU was: Be open to new ideas son, but know what you believe and why you believe it.
