cleaning stock wheels

is there already a thread like this?
if not, what product is everyone using on the stock wheels, i know the tsb on wheel cleaners is out there but soapy water just isn't enough

and btw, these wheels can be bitches to clean/keep clean

LMAO... No offense but you are singing to the choir. Have you seen those buffing ball things you can get that you attach to your drill? Murrays has one that is blue and is for cleaning rims. I bought one and let me tell you, for those stock rims it is freaking AWESOME! I dip it into the bucket of soap and water and let it do the work. It fits perfectly into the spokes! I can clean spotlessly all 4 rims in well under 5 minutes. Cost me $14 I think. Worth every penny!

i was considering that ball for a drill but i can't seem to make myself remember to get my drill from my other house (which is a little bit of a drive).
what i was really hoping for was a cleaning product that works better than just soap and water, which isn't helping on the corners that much

I don't miss cleaning the stock wheels. I find that the microfiber wheel brush that I have works great.

No product will save you sadly enough. You can buy that stuff you spray on after that is supposed to allow brake dust to hose right off, I find it to not work so well and not worth the $$. Are you waxing your wheels? that can help. Also not letting them build up so much, washing them more frequently is easier as well. I am a frequent car washer so I have never been bothered with them much.

i wash every week and it's just tough to get in those corners...oh well...maybe my sausage fingers are too big, i'll get my skinny wife to do them ;)

HAHHAHAHA, chuck norris just knocked that b**** out. hahahahahahah. hahHAHAHAHa. OMG. hahhaahhahaha. i can't stop watching. hahahaha

stock wheels are a huge pain in the ass...the brush idea seems like a good call

check the detailing forum. I did a how to on cleaning wheels

and yes, with a proper wheel wax, you can make wheel cleaning easier

F21 is the best "spray and rinse" I've found, but it's still pretty crappy. Waxing them is well worth it, and I hate waxing with a passion.

I love using the Armor All triple action wheel cleaner. Just make sure rims are wet and spray it on and let it soak. Take a sponge and scrub the tough break dust out and hose off. Works wonders for me.

Online only, unless you have a local detail supply vendor that carries it.

Where do you live?

It can be found online at

yeah i dont know of any vendors based out of Ohio.

Your best bet is to order from one of the links i posted up there.

All of them are known for their excellent customer service, prices, and selection of products.

I just use soapy water (soap = Meguires Gold Class Car Wash) and a medium stiff brush. Works like a charm.
