Cleaning a black mica MS3?

ok maybe that was generalizing.

i have used the compressed air in a can to get water out from beneath the trim and all that though.

nothings worse than having that water drip down later on

...?

the rotation of the earth has nothing to do with how to wash a car...

a california water blade, yes is effective in remove amount of water off the surface, but only works properly if the surface is properly cleaned, and you wipe the water blade with a towel after each pass

guess you didn't get it

and i am definitely going to have to try that leaf blower technique(mj)

If you live in a high pollen area and want to keep the black clean plan on washing it everytime it rains or at least once a week. Also at least once a week in the winter if you live in a salty area. Really no worse than any dark car. Light, but not white colors are the wy to go to keep washing to a minimum. Also, this paint is terrible and scratches very easy. I'm sure it is the same quality paint as the other colors, but the lighter colors may not show scratches as well.

The best thing for drying a car I have ever found was the Mr Clean Auto Dry car wash. I only used it for the filtered water to rinse the car after it is washed, the rest of the kit is useless. Since it is filtered water there is no need to dry, the minerals in water is what causes the water spots. This might not work so well if you don't have a clean place to park your car while it dries. I also never used it on perfect paint so it may not dry perfectly. For not having to physically dry a car though that thing is amazing.

so i washed, used a polish glaze, and waxed my car with an automotive/marine boat/airplane wax this weekend. i gave it a rinse and a microfiber towel dry and oh.....my....god. i havent seen a red ms3 with such a good factory paint job yet. not 1 swirl mark. yes, not 1! the glaze polish i use is some prototype s*** my supervisor gets from some friend that works for a wax company or something.....idk. anyway it took out everything that was not perfect. my headlights and taillights look brand freaking new. the clear coat that was chipping on the rockers look almost as good as new. the wax is amazing too. i tried to spray water on it so i could get the streaks out with the towel and the water wouldnt stay on the car....lol. i mean bone dry. haha. once i clean it up again ill gwet some pics. it rained today. :( stupid pollen. ill quick detail tomorrow if it isnt raining and get some pics tho to show you all how it turned out and get you the name of the wax. it rules.

edit....its collinite insulator wax. seriously rules.

collinite makes some great waxes.

and that glaze probably has fillers which hides the swirl marks. glazes have oils that give the paint a really deep, wet look (depending on the glaze of course) but also contain fillers that hide minor defects like swirl marks.

Invest in Zaino and it will make every carwash easier and you wont have swirls and anyother issues.

Its still Black and dust will show and show quickly.

i have the best way to dry your car and not have any problems with scratching, swirling or whatever-ing.

you may laugh, but i think im awesome because i only know a few people who do it.

use....a......leave-blower.

I have a nasty gas powered leave blower that blows like some 200 miles an hour and that s*** comes dry man. i have a nice glaze and wax on my car and the water flies off. plus you get all the left over soap and water in ANY crevasse.

swirl marks-0 leave-blower-1

totally done it lol

bought this today and used it on my black mica ms3 Impeccable results. I consider it a must have as I live on long island and the trees are dropping pollen and the water has loads of sediments in it so my car has been covered in water spots for weeks until I found this. seriously a good investment. used it once so far but going to be using it much more often from now on

I use Turtle Wax car wash and Nu-Finish liquid Wax (in the orange bottle) on my car. The Nu-finish is am amazing wax for the price, works wonders and is easy to put on even in the direct florida sun.

As for drying.. i've found the best way is the good ol shammi. We have a water softener for the florida water, but it still leaves spots so i go over w/ mothers quick detailer for any tiny spots i get

And the worst is those little pockets of water that like to come dripping out when ur drying and putting product on the car. ARRGG i hate those.

Def. gotta try the leaf blower idea though. a guy down the road does it on his harley and that thing always shines like new. Problably look goofy in the driveway drying my car w/ a leaf blower. haha

It's funny, I bought that for my black mica speed 3 and thought it was the greatest thing ever. Worked great. Then I gave my car the Zaino treatment (recommended) and the auto-dry system didn't work as well. Before the Zaino the water would sheet off, after the Zaino it beaded so much that the water wouldn't come off the car as easily. I ended up with water spots even though I was using a new auto-dry filter =(.

weird. would you say do zaino in favor or using the mister clean thing?

^^ It's hard to say. The Zaino looks GREAT when it's done. Not having to dry your car is nice too. Though I'm not about to take the Zaino off. I would say Zaino is better =).

The Mr Clean car wash leaves a film on the car that I don't like. At first I thought it was great, but after several washes I could see the film. It's gotta be something in the soap to help with sheeting the water off. Finish looks 10X better after I clay-barred and polished and waxed. I've always used a leaf blower for cars and motorcycles. Don't use a gas powered one though as the 2-strokes blow out oil mist which ends up all over your clean car...

There is something in the soap for sure. It's pretty apparent looking at your cloth after washing the car. It ends up being dirty as would be expected, but the dirt doesn't wring/wash out of the cloth. You end up with a film of grime on your hands as well that doesn't come off very easily.
