Cleanest Boost Gauge install on MS3

Looks like a professional install. I'd miss having that vent too much but if you can live without it then kudos!

Ditto, looks great but it's way too hot in TX to lose that vent.

That looks amazing. Fantastic job!!!! I would love to do mine up just like that. I think taking away that one vent isnt that big of a deal, real clever.

A+ install. People who complain about the placement are just upset that you won't get mad pillar pod attention. This is very similar to what they did on the SRT4 caliber.

Clean install :) Same place the Vdubb guys put there Boost guage.....well at least the new gen VW's.

HOLLY s***!!!! Dude that install looks ******* sick i must say that is the most creative thing ive seen...That s*** looks like it was meant to be there...you could put 2 more gauges in the center ones but im sure you would want some a/c...i think my man needs a sticky for that one that s*** is kick ass! good work!(headbang)

Clean install, wow! Im getting my greddy boost gauge this weekend, love the Spot you picked, I might have to copy that install!!

Did you get the same gauge? The color dosent match as good as I hoped, its a little dull. But none the less everyone including myself seems to love it!

looks really good man. i would love to do that. i never have the side vents open anyways, i can never make them hit me dead on. its annoying. and with those two vents closed, the two middle vents compensate and blow harder. you're getting the same amount of air, just less vents. kudos.

That looks very clean.

Do you think a 60mm gauge would fit? It looks like there's a few mm's of space left on the edges. Also, would some sort of rotating mount be possible, like a ball & socket type setup with the gauge being mounted in the ball? This might help alleviate the sun glare issue and make it possible to point the gauge directly at the driver's eyes. I'm thinking of doing something like this and just throwing out ideas.

What is the vent part number?

Yours looks really good.

I think a 60mm would fit, I would double check but the only 60mm I like is the Defi thats about $380 which I want to get eventually, but that will be later on when I hit a bored stage if you know what I mean. Ill have to find the paper for the part number, Ill do that and Pm you. A ball and socket would be cool, or carbonfiber or fiberglassing it on an angle would look cool, both good ideas but this was quite simple and clean for me to do so I went this route.

OK since everyone is praising the gauge install, i'll be the first to say it looks like Crap!.

why would you waste you time removing a perfectly good vent just for a silly boost gauge. What do you need a boost gauge for anyways??? to watch the stock boost pogo around on the gauge. It dumb.

You need to take some classes on how to properly fabricate and make better looking installs. From the photos it looks like a amature installed that gauge.

And another thing............ (flame)

I'm joking, it looks good i just had to stir the pot a little an see what happens :D
It looks good, though i personally wouldn't give up that vent in texas heat. Good job (cheers)

Lol you had me going until I scrolled down ;) up here in Ohio I mostly drive with the windows down unless Im going out on the town, so vent is a no biggy for me.

i figured i'd get a rise out of aomeone and then they would read the rest and be like ahhh SH!#T............. :D

It does look good, too bad it doesnt do you much good with a busted motor mount ....... Don't worry mazda will get it straightened out.

The car is still worth it.

Hey Voicekoil ... does that round vent just pull out of the dash? I got my spare from the dealer and I'm ready to install but just wanted to be certain on how to remove the round vent. Appreciate your help man, I did the desk grommet thing also, looks great and much easier than the PCV cap mentioned in this forum. Thanks bro, Mike

Whats up Mike, the vent is removed by a twist and lock clip, and comes out on the outside of the dash, but I tried for the life of me to do it by not taking it out just to see if it could be done, I think that it would be quite hard though. If youve got the spare you can look around the back side to see some L shaped plastic peices, thats what Im talking about twist into the dash. Also for the entire install I think it would be pertty hard to fish the wires or vacumm line going only through the vent hole. Your way better off just taking it all apart even though it is intimidating Im going to try to write up a how to for everything because Ive been getting a Large amount of questions about the install.
