onequickmsp said:I installed the Unichip today and I have some questions. The unichip came with three unmarked switches. I figure the one without the LED is the power, and the two LED switches are Boost controller and Maps A/B selector. I ran the car on map B and noticed no difference between A and B. Then I got on the Highway and left the map on A and turned on the boost controller. The car was in 5th car around 3k when I hit the gas. The boost kicked in right away and hit 10 psi, a couple seconds later I heard "tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick", I immediatly left off the gas and turned off the boost controller. I'm going up to the track on Sunday and would really love to use the boost controller. I don't want to risk detonation. Should I be using Map B when I turn on the boost controller??? Am I doing something wrong?? Help me!!!
onequickmsp said:I tried boosting on map A this morning. I was in 2nd around 40km/h when I smashed the gas. The car pulled like a motha-F@#$. I didn't hear any tinking so I thing it was ok. What worried me was that it boosted to 13 psi and stayed there.
PlatinumMSP said:you should take the psi down to 10 thats about all the stock injectors can handle, if you get injectors you can run 12, but 13... thats dangerous bro
zzMSP03.5 said:I have stock wrx injectors in my car now... with that the unichip tech that was testing my car is trying to test it all the way up to 15psi, he hasnt tried that yet we got it to 13psi and she pulled 220whp running really rich so we are working to clean it up...
Pretty much it went from the stock msp injectors not giving it enough fuel, to the wrx injectors getting to much fuel, it was actually running so rich it was off the chart on the dyno to give you an idea. We got it to the point where its drivable but i have to bring it back to tune it further then street tune it.

Pirana said:ask Apocman, he runs that daily and so is his brother (bad wastegate actuator since new) he didnt know about it, thought it was normal.
Regarding the Unichip, yes anything can happen. Remember this things are tuned for stock MSPs, so a tune is necessary if you upgrade turbo, intercooler, exhaust, etc...mine has been tuned and I couldnt be more happy...no problems as of yet...and no need to boost 15psi, when my car outruns most MSPs and HiBoosted Proteges running 10psi with 6~8psi on mine.
Sweet!
what is a fcd ??? fuel cut???JDM Sam said:if u run a FCD with a unichip you will blow too. i have a broken oliver rod as an example from a msp that came to me.

apocman said:yep! and I am also the one who took out a good engine thinking it was blown:'( and have more stuff from Lowes than most(eekdance) and even have my ECU duck taped together(wow)
I guess I'm a little on the crazy side of the tracks(braindead
my car runs on average 16-19psi daily, but I also drive very normal for over 90% of the time and have never been to the track or things along those lines...
