Chroming OEM Grille..

while we're all waiting for grille accessories, has anybody done a repaint of the existing honeycomb upper/lower grilles? I'd think that on black CX-7 Grand Touring, these simply chromed would be great.

Any painters have idea on how viable this would be to do...what to use, would it "stick", etc?

I'm possibly game based on feedback, especially if others have done it.

(what's the set cost i.e. replacement. :) ...just in case..)

How about you being the test dummy? Have yours chromed and we'll all see if it looks good. I think it will look awesome. Look at Ford Edge (CX7 cousin), the razor blade-esque grill is chromed.

Im not worried if it would look good, that I have no doubt.
More concerned on the "how-to" as I'm not a painter expert.

What to use? How to prep surface? What's after-expectancy, etc etc

It's commonly done on motorcycle plastic parts. The honeycomb might be expensive to do though since you might be talking about a lot of surface area to chrome on the inside edges. I believe it can be done without doing the back to save some money.

I use 3M chrom vinynal I'll post some pic's later

This product looks too good to be true I can only see the need to constantly re apply the product to maintain the shine. A few runs through the car wash and the Bling Bling will look more like washed out pewter

Have it dipped in chrome. DON'T USE CHROME PAINT!!! There are a few places, one in NY and two in LA, that will chrome plastics. They quoted me $200 plus shipping, $100 per part regardless of size.
