cheapest CAI(mazdaspeed)

Have you ever installed one? I have seen two other posts that have the install times between 1.5 - 2.0 hours. Mine just happened to take 2.5. If you look at the three, that is 2.0 hours average by three different dealers. I would say your 20 min. estimate is a little off.

Maybe im just spoiled cause i got the hookup from a mechanic friend of mine. We got it installed in an hour and a half. Oh...and labor is not taxable, at least not in the state of NC.

20 min is iffy if youve never done it. the only problem i had was that the instructions that my intake came with were for a 03-04 mazda 6. i had put a screw in the vacuum hose to seal it off a la stock airbox mod.

its honestly not that hard to do tho, so some of these prices seem extreme.

I didn't mean to imply the labor was taxable...just that the the final cost of $440 included tax as well.

omg guys..its an intake..20 min tops!!!

Not really for this one, since the air filter is all the way down in front of the wheel. Getting the old airbox out and putting the new intake in is easy 20-30 minutes but then getting the car up, wheel off, removing the plastic liner around the wheel...it is going to take you a good hour or more total job.

If you got yours in 20 minutes then zoom zoom :)

i didnt put mine in yet..but ive taken the stock one out just to see what it would sound like..that took 5 min.just seems a bit long..now the boost gauge a little longer...

I'm sure if it had to be done over again it wouldn't take half as long as it did. But have fun when you put yours in :)

$265 from my Wayne Mazda dealership in NJ. Not including Shipping and definately not including installation fees as I will be doing it myself.

seriously...who the hell would pay to install an intake anyways? (stooges)

People like myself that have no experience or sense of direction when it comes to installation.

$286. free labor from my personal mechanic who is also the service manager. i guess working at a dealership has some perks. took 45 minutes.

what the hell fun is that?! paying people to work on your car? you may as well keep it stock if you can't do the work yourself. it's not like you're splitting atoms. it's a cold air intake! thats all. anyone on here do their own work or does everyone bring their car to the dealership for something as simple as this? how do you learn about your car if you never turn a wrench on it? i just don't get it.

talk about a ******* bummer, i went and bought mine today, got home, opened box, WRONG ONE, for a damn na 2.3....s***....:rant off:
