Does anybody know how to change the oil on these mazda 3's. I have a 2004 Mazda 3 s 2.3 liter engine. I know that it does not have a spin on oil filter. I was wondering if anybody had any steps in doing this process. I have always changed my own engine oil. It has a cartliage filter instead of the spin on type. I went to mazda to get the filter. It only cost like $6. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

So, "does anybody know...": the answer is a definite YES. As to the help, the biggest help you can get at this point is learning how to use the "search" function. 8^)
- go to the "main" level of this fourm 3/MS3 Engine & Perfomance
- hit that Search this forum button
- enter what you're looking for, in this case: oil
- click 'go'
- - - > now start learning.
----------------------------
Using the above search yields many pages of very good results (some off topic so you have to cull them) including these:
- How-To Change The Oil on a Mazda 6i -- which applies to our 3's also
- oil filters no longer dealership monopoly
- Switching to a spin-on filter
- 5w30 ok to use???
- Synthetic oil a must??
