changing brake pads

Hey how many miles was it when u changed ur break pads. im at 16k miles and my e-brake light comes on. i dont wanna just top off the brake fluid cause if my pads r low and i change it i dont want it to over flow :) . thanks for the help

You can check your pads pretty easily by a simple look. 16k miles does not add up though. If you get the chance I'd pull the wheels off and inspect your brake lines for small leaks. Topping off your brake fluid isn't a big deal.

I changed my front pads out at 25k with plenty of pad left. The rears actually let out about 50k.

agreed putting in brake fluid isnt a big deal its more of an important deal if its low fill it up...

pull off the tire and look at your break pads.. how much pad is left... if u got time pull of the calliper and check out the pads more, make sure they are waering evenly etc

*ebrake going on is there way to tell you ur low on brake fluid so i would check it ... since there is not brake fluid light thats it :)

i got a problem in this area too...i mean i change my own brake pads coz going to get it change to some shop is @%$#% expensive i mean $89 per axle not including pads...this time im having trouble pushing the pistons back in, seemed like the piston got stuck in the middle or somethin, this was the first time that it happened to me, i never had this problem changing brakes from my previous cars n already did what i could exept for bleeding the car coz i got no time for that, what sucks tho is that it was the rear passenger side brakes that was only worn out the other three has 25% more to it...n i only have 32K miles to it...

What pads did you guys change to? Stock??
I am wondering because I need new brakes, and I already got some d/s brembo's, but now I need pads. Which pads will perfom well, stay quiet, and give off minimal brake dust???
help me out!

i did my front at 13k or so... WPB driving can do that... just look should be able to see how thin pads are. Im not close to 40k and i need to do the rears.

Was this problem with the rear brake caliper? if so, search for "rear brake caliper" and you'll come up with pure gold. Rear pistons can't be pushed in like the fronts

-I changed all my 4 @ 50K miles - after driving 3 months with the brake light on constantly

My front pistons went in very easy, take the res. cap off first. I didn't do the rears yet, don't these need to be screwed back in or something?

I am at ~28k and I just checked them out when I swapped back to winter wheels and they appeared to be in good order.

the front pistons are easy to put ur rear ones back u have to take a peice of the caliper and u need a really long allin wrench and u basiclly turn it and it pulls it back

did my fronts at 30K and they had some 40% life left and the backs have about 40K on them and still have 30% more pad left.......

yo...this is to cbcbd...thanx alot i got mah answers on my questions thanx for giving me "rear brake calipers" to search for man...i finally got my brakes goin...
