Waxing won't help if the clear coat used is s***. If your unsure what was used, I'd suggest getting PPG/DuPont clear coat applied (We use PPG on all our products).

Okay, here's the scoop on what I tried. It does look about 85% better after I used the product as described above. When I look at it at certain angles, I can still see the clouded spots. I feel like if I could wet sand or use some other similar technique, I could get down past the pitted, cloudy areas and then apply the tr3 and it would look great. I am going to try and pm the guy that suggested this on houston-imports and see what he says. I will give more info as I get it. I really want to see if there is a way to get our cf products looking new again for less than $100 bucks.

Thanks for the info/update. I was going to look into picking some up tomorrow after reading that, but if its 100 I think I want to know more first.

No sir, it's less than 10 dollars. lol...sorry for the misunderstanding. I was informed that taking the hood to the body shop and having them do it might be around $100. I was thinking that it would be worth it to try and do something myself rather than spend 100 letting someone else work on it.

I have a Gemini composites R/C hood for about 2 years now and around January this year I started to notice cloudiness (white discoloration) right over where the engine would be. It was buffed out with 3M compound. And I waxed it 3+ times a year with Carnauba wax (was recommended once a year with the included instructions, so I didn't think to do it much more). It came back 3 months after buffing it and keeps getting worse and also is in different areas. It looks like shitt! You can't see it really when its wet, and gets slightly better when I wax it. Any suggestions would really help! I really love the clean look of this hood and would be a shame to just paint it...after all we are paying for the cf look. If pictures are needed I will take them.

^ It's the gel coat! You can not do anything to stop it. It will always return, even if you clear it it'll eventually come back. The only option is to paint it to get rid of it for good.

We (Xcelerated Concepts) do not use a gel coat like other manufactures. We use a special (patent pending) blend which is 100% UV stable, and top it off with PPG clear. Our products will not cloud, turn yellow, fade, or become brittle in harsh enviroments like the "others".

How difficult is it to sand off the clear coat and paint it? I've contacted several body shops around here and they're all afraid of doing anything with CF.

Edited: Better yet, anyone know of a place in GA that will re-clearcoat it?

Just found this thread and I'm brigning it back. My hood has started to go to s***. Near the washer sprayers above the holes of VIS Evo hood mainly. Guy told me $150 to re coat it, but after reading all these stories and hearing the same story from someone I know, think I'm just gonna have it painted black and add some kind of logo. Or just all black. Sucks to lose the Carbon Fiber look.

That's even worse....Mazda logo would make sense on a mazda car (it would still be gay, but at least it would make sense). Putting a "unique" logo on the hood would just be corny...Do what makes you happy though....there is plenty of happy rice out there. A logo just wouldnt be my style...Im not a big fan of putting designs on my car....That's what paper is for.

Im not trying to knock you for being different, but No matter what super creative design you come up with, even if it was really cool, it probably wont look right on the hood of a car.

Youre welcome....Any logo would be Rice, but feel free to go ahead and put a chinese symbol on the hood if you like. It might not be rice now, but it will be if you put a logo on your hood...Im trying to prevent that...but of course you dont know how to comprehend properly....I never called you rice, but what you plan on doing WILL be rice....take a poll and post your design and I bet you will find that everyone will vote rice no matter what amazing design the great one, NVMSP, comes up with...

You act like theres never been a nice design on a hood of any sort, sticker,paint, anything else that I can't think of. and Like I said to begin with I have no idea what I want on it yet,color size, words, pic, logo so how is it automatically rice? Personally to me if something looks good then guess what it looks good. Like I said before if I don't like it or it doesnt look good then I wouldnt keep it.
