I'm talking with JTRsports.com about having them make a CF EVO style hood for the protege and they said they would make one if I can get at least 10 people in on the buy. I figured there are lots of people out there that would want one and right now and Wings West is the only one available. I don't have the price yet but if you look on thier site the most expensive one is like $470 and the average is $392. That's a hell of a lot cheaper the the WW one.
I will call them Monday and find out the price and more details. They told me it would take 2-3 months to make. I will ask if they want all the money up front or if they will take a deposit for each hood and when it's done, then pay the rest. That's what I'd like to do since it's X-mas and the funds get lower at this time of year. There can be more than 10 people. but it as to be at least 10. Here's a picture of one they make.

That is pretty tight. I like the fact that it has the side vent like the EVO7 hood. I would be all over this if not for the fact that I have given up on getting a hood while in Hawaii due to the shipping costs. Bump for anybody who will get in on this so mabey it will be an available option once I get back to the mainland.

They're in CA, does it still cost a lot from there? Man that sucks that shipping is more to Hawaii.

I kinda want one but is that scoop/ram functional? and how do you protect against rain...something pretty important when your living in Florida. I would def prefer this hood over wings west.

Yeah, West Coast is better for sure, but the thing with hoods is that sent they are "truck" shipped items, UPS and the other major carriers won't touch them. So, the real cost comes from having to load it on a ship to have it sent out. Of course, it could never hurt to check. If you talk to them again see if you can find out what kind of estimate they might have for shipping to Hawaii. For a couple hundred it might be feasible. Wings West's distributors were giving me estimates of $360. Ouch!

Rain shouldn't matter much. I'll ask them about the scoop and if there's any type of baffle under the main whole. But getting the engine wet shouldn't be an issue.

You could order the plastic slips that Wings West makes for their EVO hood. They just clip in or something whenever it rains. I am thinking it couldn't be too hard to make it work on this hood.

Thats a tight hood, if its cheaper than the Wings West, let me know, Where in Cali are they located? I might be able to pick it up if its close enough.

if the quality of this hoodi s on par with WW, no pins required or recomended, there are covers for the vents avialble for this hood specifically, and the RAM air is functional ill probably sell my WW one and buy this

I have been tellnig every single vendor on this site to make one like this with the RAM air passive vent

I tried to call them today but couldn't get a hold of em. I may not persue this if the VIS one is of good quality.

Sorry I haven't posted anything yet, but I've tried several times and no luck. I'm guessing because of the holidays, so I will try next week and let ya know.
