Carputer noise/heat issues

I've spent about two hours reading up on all the carputer threads, and rather than open a six-month old thread I'll post here. I'm getting ready to build mine and I'm wondering for anyone who already has one in the glove compartment, under the seat, or anywhere in the passenger cabin, do you notice the noise of the cooling fan, or heat from the box at all? I'd like to put it in the trunk so it'll be quiet, but it would be a lot simpler and take a lot less wire to put it under the seat.

I have mine in place of the glove box and it can be heard. Probably won't be as bad once its covered. Heat can't be noticed, though. By the way, don't you think it would get pretty hot in the trunk?

Yes, but probably not that much hotter than it would in the cabin... my car sits in a hot parking lot all day with the windows rolled up, so I really don't think it would make much difference.
