anyone ever had to have carbon cleaned outta their engines? is it possible i could do it myself? My check engine light is on and the code giving was for the idle air control. i was told by the dealership that it is either the idle air motor needing replaced or there is a carbon buildup needing cleaned out, but since i no longer have a warranty thru the dealer, they wouldnt go any further with the car. i took it to a mechanic shop and their wanting $500 for parts and labor to replace the motor.
