car wont rev over 2500rpms after head gasket was done

Well obviously something didn't get done right or you wouldn't be posting
. It sounds like you're not building up enough compression to get over 2500 rpm - have you done a compression check?MazdaSpeeder

did you do it yourself? If so, I agree with slavrenz...if a shop did it, take it back and make them fix it.

other issues going on?
vac leaks?
timing off?
turbo non turbo..?
there are alot of factors that need to be established before a diagnosis can be properly made.... first chec compression as stated above....
check engine lights can indicate some things... however... if your car is turbo'd for example... and some how your maps from your ecu got messed up... that would be another.. to much fuel or not enough would cause that... soo with all that being said.. how bout some details about your car...
is it completely stock?
what mods if any....

was the engine put at TDC when the head gasket was changed...?
was the head milled down and flattened out before putting it back on?
what was the reason to change the head gasket?

the car is bone stock other than the sri intake n thats it the check engine light did not com on wen i started it up i put the timing at tdc n the reason of me doing the head gasket was that the 178*** miles on stock head gasket its non turbo no vacuum leaks no nothing o and wen i did the head gasket i took all the butterfly flaps out the in take many cause there was a recall on them
So you changed the head gasket for no reason other than that it was older? That seems odd and a waste of time and money.

no i did not change it for no reason the car was smoke white alote out the exhaust on a cold start and would smoke a little while driving

yes all my cylinders are at 150 and above

sounds like a trigger issue. check your crank position sensor plug. its the three wire grey plug right in between the power steering pump and valve cover. MAKE SURE each wire is making connection. you can either use an ohm meter or oscilliscope (might want to have a mechanic do it). i say this from experience so it may work for you too. i was chasing my tail when it happened to me because i even respliced the connector and thought it HAD to be something else. it ended up being a bad mate between the male and female connectors. good luck.
