Car got stolen.

lemacfar, they reason your insurance tried to ream you up the butthole is that they probably have some wonderful statistics they paid some bean counter loads of cash to come up with, and basically, these statistics say, xyz percent of all thefts in your area and age and car type, etc etc, are fraud, and so on.
What I've come to realize that in large companies nothing is really about procedures, regulations, standards, rules... it's all about 1 thing--excuses. Oh sure co's spend billions of dollars establishing said procedures and regulations but that's just for show. When you have a alrge insurance or warranty claim, first and foremost, before anything else, the co will look for excuses not to pay up. Given the co's near infinite resources compared to yours, they can go fishing practically forever, hoping to eventually stretch things out until you probably agree to a really bad deal or just entirely give up.

My friend blew his RSX-S engine. Wasn't doing anything too crazy at the time, only mod was intake + susp. The week he brought the car in he got many different stories from various Acura people:
1 - Engine blown, no abuse evident, please provide records of oil changes and stuff (note to all: they have no legal ground to ask for this information. it's not up to you to prove you maintained your car properly, it's up to them to prove you didn't)
2 - Thanks for papers, all is ok. we'll get back to you
3 - Regional service manager said your car should be serviced at your dealership not another acura (wtf?)
4 - for 5 days regional service manager fell off the face of the earth. nobody could confirm or deny anything regarding the status of the claim
5 - dealer says warranty might be invalidated due to engine abuse (a-car was not abused.. b-there was no proof to a anyways)
At this point my friend talks to someone who knows someone that is big at Acura. next day:
6 - warranty approved, engine ordered.

I for one am the first to raise the :bs: flag. I am VERY cynical. And in my opinion, most of the time my cynicism proves to be justified.

Azspeed, I hope your insurance covers its end of the bargain and pays up. Remember, as far as I know, it's up to the insurance company to prove you were in some way responsible for the theft, not for you to prove you were not. Furthermore, if you expect your ins. co. is going to get nasty, speak to a lawyer or someone and enquire about your rights in such a situation. Remember, no matter how wonderfully crafted the insurance contract might be, it is not above the law.

I was VERY shocked when I came out of the movies to see that my car was missing. The place where I was at is very well known for theft, but I thought I was safe because of my car being so limited in production. Infact, that night there were four cars stolen from the same place. Like you said enry, it would be hard to sell those parts without someone noticeing. I just think my car got chopped. I have said it before and I will say it again, I think it it is in 52657025 pieces and either in Mexico or Cali. Whatever, Im not going to stress.

DIE thieves!!!

My ins. co. so far has been very nice. They asked me a few questions and then told me to call them in 10 days if the car still wasnt found. They said that after the 10 days it would take 5 days max to get the money for my MSP. I honestly dont know how it is going to go, but I hope they are fast and will send my money out so I can get a new car.:(
