Car got stolen.

It only disables the starter by interuppting the wire where it is cut. THat is usualy at the ingintion harness so a thief just need yank out the starter wire (car side) connection that is redirected to the alarm (standard colors so they know what wire it is now plus it was the only one actualy cut) and hold it and ignition to constant power then once the car starts, drop the start wire form power and twist ingition to it only........BANG!! You got a brand new protege :D

The factory alarm for the protege is just a code alarm which is an aftermarket manufacturer. It has nothing to do with the car really like most factory alarms. It just taps a few wires and cuts and redirects the starter wire.

Most compacts are like that. HOnda's and VW's are no diffucult thing to steal either. Its often the american cars that have the best alarm systems. Except for ofcoarse the Mercedes made famous from Gone in 60 Seconds.

I think I might just go out and buy a boot. I'll just put it on my car whenever I park it. I hate thieves. My buddy got a Jetta stolen out of his driveway a few months back and he lost 2 JL15W6s and a Rockford 900 amp out of his blazer. I have been broken into in other cars before nothing is worse. Now I burn copys of my CDs and keep them in the car instead of originals stereo equipment is more replaceable sometimes. As for losing a car that is the worst. My friend whose Jetta got stolen hasn't gotten any compensation. The car needed a tranny and 2 new rims. The kids who took it were minors and they were seen in the car and not even prosecuted.

So your switching over to the srt side?? thats cool. i hope they find you car. Take care man sorry for the loss.

Our cars are very easy to open, disactivate, and Start if you know what to do. On the other side, every car has a key code and it is not difficult to access this info if you know the right people on the other side. Keep us posted when your car is retrieved how they got it. Hack Job or With a KEY? 3 different people tried to have keys made to steal cars with their AAA memberships since I started this career. I've seen and heard every excuse to get keys made!!!!

what's the point of stealing car?
take all the parts out and resell them?
I feel terrible being fact that your car was #1 production MSP

**** man thats so beat... sorry to hear about that... just keep your fingers crossed, you never know what can happen

Gone since friday:(

Are you really buying an SRT-4 instead of getting a replacement MSP? I saw your post on the SRT-4 forum and was wondering what you liked about the SRT more. For me the SRT is definitely 2nd to my MSP.......I was curious as to what made you decide to go for the Dodge when your insurance settles?

lowj im just curious, why both a msp and srt4 instead of a single STI or EVO etc. ? what 1/4 do u run with ur srt4?

Hate to say it AZ, but at this point if it were my car. I'd hope they never found it. If ya know what I'm sayin. There's just no tellin man.

well the MSP is the wife's car.......I mostly drive it on weekends. I actually tested out and EVO and an STI and had deals working on both but couldn't bring myself to drop that much $$$.......I liked the SRT performance you get for $20k.

As far as 1/4 times I'm not really sure cuz I'm not into drag racing. I plan on doing some auto-X when the season comes around and probably getting it on the track with a "CarGuys" event or something.

I'm just not following how you bypass the coded keys...Is it that easy for an amateur to do, or is this an isolated incident with a professional thief? My buddy had his Civic broken into, but they couldn't get into the ignition system. They tried, but couldn't do it. I know he had a coded key as well.
I've got a fairly standard Viper alarm, and I ws counting on the coded key as my last line of defense so at least the car wasn't physically taken. Parts could be replaced, but to lose the car itself would suck...

Yeah, the SRT4 is always what I had my eye on. I just like how the SRT4 motor is built. Oh well. I also dont really care for the 03.5 styling.
