Car acting funny while accelerating

Ill be accelerating hard is the MSP and at about 3500 - 4500 RPMs the engine acts like it just bounced off a rev limiter. It will do it once or twice and then act fine again. I dont hear a knock or a ping at all. My best description is it acts like the fuel cuts out. Also it primarily happens in 3rd gear. I have 92-93 octane fuel at all times as well.
Any ideas???

it's called hesitation. happens to many MSPs.

you have a few options to fix it:
- get your ECU flashed at a Mazda dealer
- get some kind of AFC unit (DSMConvert's AFC works well)
- get some kind of engine management (mpi tuner, haltech, motec, unichip, greddy emanage)

does it feel really hard, like your hitting a brick wall?

If so then your hitting fuel cut, most likely because of the cold weather.

That doesn't sound like the hesitation I've experienced. It's not nearly that harsh.

my msp is doing that, but mostly only in first girl when i try to go fast. ill get up to probably 3000 rpms and it hesitates a bit before accelerating after that. Do you guys think its the same thing? and what can fix it?

Yes its really harsh like Im hitting a brick wall. It will launch me forward in my seat. Its about 40 degrees here but I always wait until the engine is warm before I rev it.

Sounds like fuel cut. You can get an engine management system or lower the boost. I wouldn't recommend an FCD

ice, sounds like fuel cut for sure. it's worse when the motor is cold, but still exists even when it's warmed up. like it was said before, best bet is to get an afc or some sort of computer to help control it. I have the Unichip, and most of the fuel cut is gone, but not all. Unfortunately it doesn't work that easy! (headshake

To get rid of it properly and completely you will need an EMS with larger injectors or an extra injector setup.

well the car is completely stock right now. I just picked it up a couple weeks ago and mods are coming. Just wanted to make sure that nothing serious was wrong. Sounds like most of the problem can be fixed with a new chip and an afc. Thanks for all the feedback. You guys rock
