I am getting a CAI when I get my mazda, should I attempt the install my self or take it to a shop?

Is there a good write up anywhere on how to install it properly?

And what do you think a place would charge to install it if I took it to a shop or something?

save the money and do it yourself buddy. its pretty fun too! i say 2 hours the most, if u dont know what your doing. have a buddy help you.

You need to look at thebeansoldier's write-ups for Stage 1, 2, and 3 modding. The are stellar, and I am using them as the basis for my modding.

I saw that, but I didnt see how to install it.

Actually, bypass valves tend to rob horsepower, and I've also heard that they sometimes crumble and get sucked into the throttle body, I'm not sure how much truth is in that, but I would recommend a pre-filter instead. Injen has them for sale, just look around, they work wonders in preventing water reaching the MAF. I would only recommend the bypass valve if you intend on going on underwater missions, which probably isn't the case.

The K&N Typhoon comes with a Dry-charger(same as the pre-filter). Like I said, "If you're in an area where it rains enough to worry about hydrolock" you might want a bypass, especially if you're running Eibach Sportlines. If your roads get high water at times, a pre-filter will do about as much good as wearing a dust mask to go snorkeling... basically worthless. They are great for that occasional puddle splash though. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum.
Let me know when you're ready for a CAI.

Yeah, I'm the intake pimp around here.

It rarley rains in AZ. I havent seen rain in months, it sprinkled back in august, but thats pretty much it. During the spring time we get some heavy rain but I just dont gotta drive that day :)

Why should I talk to you when I am ready for one? You selling them or something?

Also, it wont void my warranty, will it?

Yes, I do sell them!
Technically, any mod you do can void your warranty. Most dealers will overlook a CAI if it is not the cause of the problem, but it's not guaranteed by any means.

Yeah, I heard that. If it becomes a problem with the dealer, ill take it off.

What types do you sell? Do you sell other mazda performance parts as well, because I am looking for some racing beat springs and maybe some other things.

For the 3, right now I sell headers, intakes and HID kits.
I'm working on some other things as well.
Click the link in my sig for more info. And I've got pics scattered everywhere around the vendor section.
