Good afternoon everybody!!

I am buying Cobb Exhaust and a Cobb Down Pipe. I was wondering if there are any negatives as far as performance or issues with the car? Will the check engine light come on? Will it cause problems in my engine? Do i have to upgrade my fuel system? Will it make my turbo waste faster? If anything, please let me know. Every bit helps!!!! Thank you!!!

Sorry, but if you have to ask these questions you are not ready for a downpipe, and I hope you know that the stock CBE outflows the stock turbo, so no gains from CBE.

What are your current mods?

The answers to your questions are already here in many threads. Please search and read.

In the interim a few basic suggestions.

1. You must upgrade the high pressure fuel pump to safely run the downpipe.

2. You must get a tune to safely run a downpipe. I tried it without and got really nasty boost spikes.

Either plug and play Hypertech or Cobb AP will get you there. Depending on other mods you have or plan, HT will get you 95+ percent of a Cobb custom tune with complete safety, as long as you stick with the stock turbo and pump gas. Big turbo and/or E85 blends require AP.

A good long downpipe or a regular dp/rp combo is a serious power mod, but it should come after the above two suggestions.

Edit: I just saw that your car is a '13. I do not recommend HT as a power builder for gen 2 MS3's like yours. Boost is not raised significantly compared to that tune on gen1 cars, due to stock fueling limitations. AP is probably your only good option if you want to run the downpipe.

I have a '12 MS3 and there is no HT tune for the '13 MS3 yet. The peak boost with my HT is 19 psi, which is in line with the Gen 1 tune. The info I have, is the HT is good with most mods and a HPFP would be required, if a catless downpipe is used.

^ This is good to know.

Early released versions were not showing much over about 16 psi. according to many gen 2 users. It sounds like HT found a way to up the boost to gen 1 levels without the fuel pump pooping. If they release one for the '13, I'd like to see how they perform. It is a very elegant product. A lot of time went into R&D for not only wide open throttle performance, but also for silky smooth light and transition throttle driving.

I guess the TMIC added about 1 psi. Also, I happened to be one the Beta Testers for the '12 MS3 tune.
