Brake Rotors

The worst thing about this car is the ugly looking rusting brake rotors any one have any links to websites for cross drilled high performance rotors and calipers for the 2003 MSP

Yeah, the rotors rust easily, but the minute you use the brakes, it rubs the rust off. Not enough of an annoyance to warrant getting different rotors IMO.

Change the pads...dont they have those anti-rust pads? Maybe not anti-rust but doesnt rub the rust off the pads.

Most likely, you are talking about rust on the hub of the brake rotor because I have the same problem. Go to a dealer with a good, knowledgable service department & ask them to fix it. They should grind it off, paint it, & machine it...all for free (1 time only). It' supposed to take about 2 hours to do.

How could your TIRE be rusted?

Since he was asking fro crossdrilled and pads I think he was actually talking about the rotor itself and not the hub of it. IF he was, OMG people! They will ALL rust! Once you drive and first time you brake it will come off. All cars do this, it's the material the rotor is made of and the outside air coming in contact with it. Of all the things to complain about...

Again this is only if the complaint was about the rotor it self and not the hub.

If you want no rust, get ceramic brake. They don't rust!!!!:D

Well I happen to know that a LOT of people have the same problem I do with the rust on the rotor hub. Maybe it's just a southern thing, but no one was able to tell me until I found out for myself. Just trying to be helpful. :D

I painted mine. It took about 3 hours to clean and paint all four corners. It looks great now. :)

Disc Brakes

I have cross drilled vented rotors on my NSX. Sometimes they
rust up so bad (car sitting for a week after I wash it and put it
in the car hole) that it wont move until I really force the issue.
Then it makes a loud banging noise and everything works fine.

The car came with cross drilled rotors and I would not reccomend them to anyone! They have developed stress cracks from hole to hole. One of the front rotors is cracked straight through.

I'm going to try the power slot rotors. The slots are suposed
to vent hot gases better, and they have a cadnium plating
that should look nice for awhile.

Cross drilled rotors are over-rated.

BTW, the NSX is quite a step above the MSP :p

The NSX is my car. The MSP is my sons car. The NSX is a great car,
my only complaint is the upgrades are so exspensive. I had the
trans rebuilt using the Comptech gear set, ring and pinion ratio
are 4:55/1. Aluminum flywheel, 2 stage clutch, A few other goodies, and the cost was just over 10K. 0-60 4.6, 1/4 mile, high 12's. I also have a 86.5 supra thats getting a transplant.
A 500 hp small block chevy !! Ford Taurus SHO with 300 WHP.

I'm a 20 year old kid trapped in a 50 year old mans body.

personally, i'm gonna have awr make me some custom caliper brackets that would allow me to use a mini 6 pot kit from Endless.

but i donno where you would be able to get rotors for the msp. we have different sized rotors than the protege and mp3. hmm...

Ractive makes some cadinum plated (no rust) cross drilled and slotted rotors.

Yeah Black Majic hit it it is the hubs I am talking about I will try to talk to the service writer at Young Mazda on tues. when I get FLASHED. Thanks for the feedback guys your the best even the ones with negative replies.
