BOV; Stalling issue workaround

lol god i hated F&F for tht! but very humourous! but ya, i'm kinda afraid for the backfire i know my muffler get super hot, and the smell of fuel in may garage is making me brain damaged.

if the smell is strong...you may have a leak (not gas leak)

is only when i not recirculate, and raise the idle thing so it won't stall, i'm pretty sure its straight from my muffler.

Check this out, guys....it was posted by Striker187 on another thread. It's an Evo using an HKS SSQV Blow off Valve (BOV would have been too many abreviations...LOL) and it's RECIRCULATED!!!! Sounds really tight. Go to the bottom of the page, and he's got really good sound clips. Also, the whole page is good for those interested in installing it. Have fun!!

recirculate is not an option...(notcool)

i dont understand you guys, im not arguing(sp) but mine is still very loud. Since i upped my boost it is even louder. I will have to make a vid to convince you guys. I wish i had the equipment like bevis has. all i have is a camera that takes a 3min vid with sounds. i will have to give it a try.

a little info for Mazdaspeed owners trying to vent to atmosphere

If you vent the bypass valve to air, your car will stumble and most likely turn off between shifts. The reason for this is that once all the pressure is released the bypass valve will still be open and create a huge air leak which the MAF does not like. If you put a one way check valve on the end of the output, this will only allow the air to go out, but not in. Be sure to seal the other side of the intake where the air would normally be vented.

question - is this an issue (stalling) for all aftermarket bov? sorry i kno nothing of turbocharged cars.

yes...but you will not have problems when recirculating. Its just not cool when you cannot hear the BOV venting.

haha AMen i Hear that...Im thinkin of getting the HKS valve eventually..hmm..that video did sound quite sick!

well, i dont recirculate, no stall, and have a very loud BOV.

sure maybe you can hear it, but YOU are inside the car, and you know when its going to vent and actually syncronize your imagination with the actual venting and be able to hear it.

People outside will not notice the venting unless they pay very good attention to your driving style.

A loud BOV will make people turn their heads, look thru the mirrors and search for a suspect.

Ok, so here's my problem. I need to know which BOV to buy. It seems most peole are saying to go with the GReddy type S. Do I buy a universal fit or one that is car-specific? The place here in Sacramento has one for a Mitsubishi Eclipse and it has the valve to make it recirculate. Will that work? Any better options?
