Boost questions

After installing my boost gauge ,( as seen here http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123700399 ), I had a friend drive my VRMS6 with me as a passenger to see what the car is doing boostwise.... It seems as if the car does not get to full boost in 1st and 2nd gear. I assume Mazda limited the amount of boost the car makes in those gears to save on wear on the trans etc... Also it tapers boost off as speed builds in any given gear.
I am thinking of installing a MBC and setting it to stock boost level so I have full boost in low gears and I eliminate the tapering effect. Am I missing anything here? Will a MBC work as I am wanting it to?? It seems to me that it should... Any ideas??

you won't see full boost in the first 2 gears, not because mazda is limiting it, just simply because there isn't enough to spool the turbo up that fast that quickly and the load isn't as much in those 2 gears as it becomes in the higher ones.
