I will say again that I just got my MSP a week ago and I am new to imports. When it comes to old American Muscle I know just about everything. So please bare with me while I am learning.

First off for now I just want to prety much work with what I have and get the most out of it. The things that I do not want to change are the ENGINE including heads, intake manifold or any of that stuff. Next, I want to keep the stock gt28bb TURBO.

Rite now I just want to do a couple of little things like a new BPV, I was looking at Apex motorsports Blow off kit that is a bolton kit with a Greddy Type RS blow off valve and a billet aluminum recirculation fitting. The website is www.apexr1.com if you want to take a look. Is this something I need to look at rite away or should I be looking at other things to start with.

Basically I want to know if that is a good blow off kit and what are the steps for a newbi to take to increase HP with stock engine and turbo?

What's up? Welcome to the MSP world, lol. Where are you at in GA? If you near Gwinnett, then you should stop by the shop I work at, NE Autotek. I have a MSP that is somewhat sponsored by the shop. I could probably lead you in the right direction and let you check out some of the mods I have done so far. For your info, the stock turbo is not a GT28 it is a variation of a Garrett T25. Also, if I were you I would stay away from that apexr1 BOV setup. It most likely will not give you the results that you are looking for. You will still have to recirculate or you will blow-off air that has already been metered by the MAF and this will most likely cause your car to stall and run rich. If you search you can find tons of info on blow-off valve set-ups and their pros & cons. If you want to add power, you should probably start with the exhaust and intercooler, those are the biggest bottle-necks in the MSP. If you upgrade the intercooler and/or get hard-pipes, adding a BOV can be done a lot easier. With hardpipes the Mass Air Flow Sensor can be relocated to eliminate the stalling issue. If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me a PM.

The engine internals are also not that strong. You will need to seriously consider forged pistons and rods if you want to build any real power. The stock LSD also stinks, which can be a barrier to big hp numbers. If you are looking at under 250 hp, you should be fine with bolt ons though.

Yeah the most I am looking for is about 220 hp, enough to have a little fun but also conserve gas.

so you think it can be reached without changing internals? i mean 250WHP?

250 to the wheels is as far as you would want to go without changing internals. most people on here barely hit the 300whp mark and the motor doesnt last but a couple runs at that power even with good tuning. I will eventually be building a spare motor using nice forged internals. but as far as my stock internal motor i dont plan on pushing more than 250whp because i cant afford for the motor to blow to peices right now. haha and as far as right now im at 205whp and 210wtq. until next weekend where those numbers should be 240whp or so and 250wtq. we will see. but so far with my numbers ive been running those numbers for about 8 months and 30k miles and had no problems whatsoever. runs 14.0 and traps 100mph where im at now. so yeah its alot of fun. but need more. haha

intake, open s pipe, 8.5 psi, so far, dynod on a dynojet on 70 degree day, i dynod 176whp on 5.5psi with open spipe and before the intake. doing a fmic setup this next weekend and running the maf on the pressure side pipe and upping the boost to 10psi which is should automaticly raise to almost that just doing the hardpipes and frontmount. only thing is i no longer have the dyno charts to prove it but i will dyno again this winter, its way too hot right now. even right now i can almost keep side by side with a stock sti from a roll.

thats exactly where i wanna be. even a bit less would suffice.

will try to tune to that using emanage blue this week.
