Boomerang Armrest

Finally, someone who makes me feel like I made the right choice ordering a M/T 2!

I don't know how to drive it yet, but whatever!

Is someone telling you it was a bad idea to get a manual 2? Most if not all the Mazda 2 reviews stated that the manual was the one to get. You made the right call. Once you learn how to drive it you'll have a great time.

i didnt want to learn how to drive shift on a brand new car. id be too scared to actually drive it anywhere aside from parking lots lmfao. hubby tried to teach me on his Saab a few years ago and i did ok its just been so long though his car died shortly after. my next mazda will deff be a stick though :)

It's all good. The Mazda 2 could have handled you're practice runs though. :)

Some people here mentioned that the clutch can be a bit tricky to master, which got me a little worried. But I've wanted a manual car for a long time, and I decided to follow the advice of all the reviews I read/watched. I'd also be lying if I didn't say saving $1000 over the auto was nice. More money to spend on mods. (wink)

I should get my car later this week, so I can't wait to start to learn!

Tricky manual? No way. It's smooth... like butter. You'll have fun with it. Responsibly though. ;)

Not tricky but hard to shift perfectly.

I was in the same position that you're in Scopio :P Bought the car without having drove a manual car before. In 30 minutes it was all good !.

Don't give gas when you're learning ! Just release the clutch very slowly and the car will engage

Just ordered my Boomerang! I'm doing way too many road trips in the Deuce, armrest is a must!

Received my armrest. Big props to Boomerang for quick shipping, and following my request to ship it via USPS (to avoid brokerage fees).

However! The pictures in the instructions absolutely suck. It took me a few mins to figure out which parts of the console to remove first, since their diagrams loosely depict only an auto gearbox. My next complaint is lack of torque specs. I cranked one of the double-sided posts too tight and one snapped off. Looks like a hard-to find bolt, and now I've got to drill out the broken bolt to take it out. I've emailed Boomerang, hopefully they can set me up with a replacement (fingers crossed). For now, I've secured the armrest with three of the four bolts, and it seems pretty solid. Next: the crush washers supplied were too small to fit over the M10 thread on the posts. I didn't have any replacements at hand, but I spread them using vice and a screwdriver. Come on guys, get the hardware right...

Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the construction and aesthetics of this thing. I think I'll lower it down in the future, though, seems like it could go down a few cm's if I drill a few holes.

Ouch. I actually did the same thing with one of those bolts myself. Didn't think i was tightening it that hard and snap! I've been using 3 out of 4 bolts for months now and it's fine. Even put weight on it sometimes and it holds. Torque specs would be nice though.

I also had a bit of trouble getting those washers over the posts as well. It took some work to screw them on. Certainly not an easy screw.

You didn't use this installation video?

Well, Boomerang have been awesome, and they're sending another hardware kit my way! Great great service so far.

One of the things i will sure order very soon :) I was looking for the armrest for a long long time and i keep going back to this one since this is the only one that doesn't require new holes to be made anywhere!
Very smart installation IMO and it looks nice as well!

need help with install

I have a 2012 (EU) Mazda 2.

Problem is the centre console is not the same as in the installation video from Boomerang. I don't think it's possible just to pull out the front part like on the video

Anybody that knows how I can get the console out?
