blown mp3 motor.. will an automatic fit in a manual?

:
2001 Mazda Protege Mp3
i have a blown mp3 motor...found a great price on a regular 2.0l 01' protege motor butttttttttt.... its an auto. called over to the service dept. at mazda and they said all they could tell me was that someone who had an auto accidently bought a manual and it fit in fine.. ud just have to change the fly wheel. the guy at the shop where i was gona buy it from says its showing up on his comp that the whole bottom block was diff. can annnnnnyone help!?

if you just swap the blocks, i can't see how they would be any different

need to change the flywheel and crank girdle
obviously you'd want to swap the intake manifold also

yep, same block. Change manifold. And TheMan said the rest. How did you blow it? Are you boosted?

no no i bought it blown! haha oil starvation...get this.. 100,033 miles. crazy right.... atleast a softball size hole in the block. nuts. but im goin on what u guys say....i hope it fits!! and no..no boost :( not yettttttttt!

lol dude...pink sun sparklez is a girl!!! that just needs the car to run..thennn mods!! and whata u mean (again, im a girl) if im just changing short blocks? theirs a huge hole!!! and i called a diff mazda and the brain dead parts guy said the numbers are diff so they probably wont fit...has anyone actualy converted auto to manual here?!

ha-ha!! i call everyone dude, so....

like i said, if all you're changing is the short block, it should go right in

are you guys ****** with me?! lol.. i just called 5 different mazdas and they all basicaly laughed at me. one said he wouldnt do it, other said diff numbers, and the other 3 said no, completely diff engine all together. then i asked the last one if a mazda protege 5 motor would fit (i saw reviews for the mp3 and said it was the same motor) and he said...again...two totaly diff motors. what the hellllllll u guys.....lol

good gawd, "dude" - all the mazda 2.0 liter engines are interchangable, with very minor, MINOR differences between them.

yeah they will fit... no one is ******* with you... as theman said manifold/crankgirdle and flywheel are the parts you will need...

alriiiiiight u guys.... its bought. being shipped to my boyfriend/mechanic tom! only 38k miles. yay. and u realize im comming after u guys if it its wrong. but dude said theyll take it back minus a few hundred if it doesnt fit..so thats pretty cool. wish me luck!!!

good luck and it will definitely fit, don't worry about. just change the parts mentioned above.

HAHA Your a girl, thats why the stealership said it wouldn't fit. They are trying to get more money out of you. It sucks that they do that. But your in good hands here. We will try not to steer you wrong. It will fit.

okkkkkkk GENTLEMEN.... IFFF i change the girdle like you say... wont the bearings for the crank get all ****** up and have to be ****** with?!

what the **** is a girdle?

you can go as far as just using the 626 engine!
any FS engine fits!!
some harder than others but they all fit!

i see you bought one already..no problemo..it'll fit..

just build it forst, don't just dump an engine in there and call it a day..
it might be 30k miles...but what if it was 30k miles with 3 oil changes?
you never know...just rebuild it...be safe and you'll have a TRUE 0 mile engine
don't be cheap...you'll regret it later

i dont care about being cheap i just want to put basicaly the stock motor back in... i didnt even care if it had 150k as long as it wont **** anything up.. i plan on putting a completely diff motor in when i can, this is my only car as of now.. and until i get it running ill be stuck on here for forever. and the crank girdle..in the block.. its whatever tho.. we'll see what happends

its all good.. the FIRST motor i put in my p5 was a auto, i did the changes that need to make it usable for the 5 speed tranny.. works fine,, till you get oil starvation AGAIN.. so now im lookin to put mt 2nd motor in.. good luck on your project.. the auto motor will work for you...
