Blown motor??

Ok so I had a 6i for awhile and then totalled it and got a 6s about 2 months ago...... no problems with it but then I was driving it yesterday and all of a sudden it started knocking and wouldnt go any faster than like 15-20 mph.... well its still under warranty so i had mazda come get it.... i went up there today and they told me that my oil filter was a turn and a half tight (basically barely on there) and that that was why all my oil leaked out.... my question is, how is that possible.... how can it all of a sudden have a problem after 2 months and about 2300 miles??? I never had a leak and it was always fine.... also neither the oil light nor the check engine light came on and mazda is trying to say its not their fault (uhm) which I think is bs, the light is supposed to come on if the oil pressure is low it's not there just to look pretty like these hicks I talked to were implying..... I was just wondering if anyone else has had any problems similar to this... any blown motors with around the same situation, any warranty issues with mazda, any of them making up stories so to speak?? thanks

Who did the last oil change? If it was the dealer and you have the documents to go with the oil change, it's on them. If they refuse to honor your warranty, I would contact Mazda.

Secondly, you had no lights come on? Did you even notice how hot your car was?

I'm not surprised. The low oil warning light on this car engages when it's just about empty. It's not even a warning light in the sense of the word. More like oil is now empty light.
