A greddy BOV is $210. I have two questions. If i put it in now, will it void my warranty? Second question is do i need a BOV adapter for it? cause the adapter is sold separate.

1. no unless the dealer finds it related to your problem. 2. yes if its an universal one you'll need an adapter

BOV's not the best option for speed 3's so yes you will need adapter if its universal.

It takes like 5 min to install . . . just take it off before you visit the dealer. If that is your only mod you most likely wont ruin your warranty but why take the risk. Some dealers are out to get you.

you will need the recirc fitting for it

http://www.s_t_r_eet_un_it._co_m/GReddy_Type_RS_29mm_Recirculation_Fitting_p/11900512.htm

secondly you will need the flange

https://www.streetu_nit._com/Produc_tDetails.asp?ProductCode=SUMZRGR

or just order it all from street unit as a package with free shipping... for 272 if you use the street unit discount. when its done it will look like this.

one more question. lol. that Greddy BOV i mention. is that universal? or is that just made for our cars?

Dude you want a bypass valve. The speed3 runs rich between shifts if it isn't running in recirculation.

really? wat about the Turbosmart Compact Dual Port Blow Off Valve Kit. do u have any hard facts that the speed3 will run rich if BOV isnt running in recirculation?

when teh air doesnt recirculate the ecu doesnt compensate for the missing air, therefore the car will have rich spikes between shifts.

I've ran both VTA and hybrid bovs before... they're not terrible feeling and you kind of get used to it. but when I go back to recirc it always amazed me how much smoother and better the car runs. VTA is fun for awhile but IMO after awhile it wears off and you want that smoothness and driveability back

BOV (what you don't want) = high pich chirp sound, vents air to atmosphere (blows it out)

BPV (what you do want) = most sound like a can of soda opening sorta with a woosh sound. Air is recirculated back into the car.

Go to websites that sell mazda performance parts such as protegeturbo.com, corksport or streeet unit. Just click on your car and everything there will be proper for your car.

Im not familiar with your bov but just lookt it up. If it says universal or vent to atmospher or recirc then your good. My advice would be just to buy a bpv with no BOV feature. This way its cheaper, easier to install, smaller.

I have also run all types of valves on this car cause I'm a music teacher and love sound, can't help it. Hybrids feel almost like stock and the turbo xs is nice, gives a whip crack plus air escaping psssst. GReddy type s in vta sounded incredible, but the car really ran horribly and I never want it to run like that again. Using the recirc fitting and adapter plate from street unit I am running it now in recirc. Sound pretty good and the car runs like a dream. Have a type rs in the mail, let you know how that goes.

I joked with a friend of mine that I am probably going to amass a huge collection of bov/bps and change them with my mood. Including the stocker, I am about to have 4. I was thinking about trying the HKS or turbosmart hybrid. Someone stop me ;) I am forcing myself to decide to keep one and sell the other 2 here on the forums when the rs comes in. I LOVED the type s vta, but it's just a bit lack-luster in recirc for me. Got bored. Want a whoosh now, but not a pssst. I know what I'm talking about even if you dont :p

dude youre getting the rs now?? Post sound clips I really want to hear that also!

For the OP, the greddy type-s even in recir is awesome! and I am a noise ***** so I like it loud. You absolutely cannot run vta or the car will run like its about to die, but with the Greddy type-s you only need the mounting adapter from street unit as the recirculation tube will fit over the regular end on the side of the valve like this on my car:

I cant stop you, but i'll buy one off you. PM me if interested

Lestat13, I will also be very interested in what you think of the RS. I'm about to replace my factory BPV with something that's better made. I want the best quality possible and definitely don't want VTA so the RS with the recirc kit is one I'm seriouly considering. For that matter, if you put your S up for sale I might well buy it. Please let us know what you think.
