FINALLY got around to doing this. Not too hard, but broke a couple of clips in the chrome housing. oh well. also installed one of those grounding kits that I have had for like 4 years and never put on.

Looks great! Way to take on a mod like this. Looks rad on white P5's. Now tint the windows, side markers, and tails.

Very cool. I think this is the second white P5 with blacked out headlights I've seen.

Is it possible to get slightly larger pics? I'm contemplating doing this to my wife's car. She just wants to see it done to another car already.

Benzero - looking good. IMO one of the best mods you can do as I am not a fan of chrome.

Tylor, check out this link. http://www.altspace.com/nepoc/ You can see Dan's (CrazeeD) white P5 on the last page. Also do a search for member - whitemp5seattle. He too has blacked out headlights and they look great on white!

not that much bigger, but:QUOTE]

lol. Thanks buddy!! Guess I shoulda clarified. I'm lookin for bigger pics of the blacked out on a white Pro5. I've already blacked out my own headlights on the Laser Blue. Thanks though!!!

Thanks y'all. I am looking to tint the windows next week or so. HIDs are next. I have had this car for over a year with nothing done to it. Here are a couple of pics of my old pro and the work I did to it. I have a long way to go to even get close to that one.

I won't go for as much work on this one though. I have to drive my kid around still. Shaved door handles were a PITA and I can't imaging trying to get her in a racing seat. I miss the tv's and the n02 though.

...still wish I had half of the parts from that car.....

Benzero, looks great.

What brand and where did you get the headlight kit.

I just picked up a 2002 MP5 with 95k. Got a few small dents and the headlights are fogged on the outside and some melting took place on the inside of headlights. Looks like when they replaced the bulb, they tossed the old bulbs with the adapters. Bulbs are all cocked, not properly seated. Looks like a Fry Daddy gone wild. So, if i got to replace them I want to black them out from the start front and rear. I'm also going to have to I guess go to the dealer for the adapters.

Here is what i'm thinking of buying in the next day or so. I just want to make sure these will fit the MP5.

Any input would be great Benzero..

I did mine all with homemade stuff. Duplicolor high temp paint, baked the lights in the oven to soften the glue and pull them apart. sealed that back up with silicone.

The problem that you will have with purchasing a light, is that those are made for the sedan, wich uses one bulb for regular and bringts. The p5 uses two separate lights. if you look at that first link that you posted, you can see there is space for only one bulb, but the real p5 lights have 2 spaces.

any idea where to get the correct ones then that are blacked out. Not even going to attempt what you did. Great job by the way, especially know knowing you did it by hand.

Find a Canadian member wanting chrome and trade em, or, shell out $600+ and order em from the dealer.

You could get the sedan black'd from Ebay, but, then you've gotta do some wiring

Looks great! I'm still wanting to tint my taillights, and now I'm contemplating my headlights.
How hard is it to do yourself?

It's not hard at all.

Simplist way to explain, pull the bumper, remove all bulbs, remove headlight assembly.

Bake in oven at *** (gotta look up the temp) for * minutes(gotta look it up too)

Remove from oven, use a flathead screwdriver to pop the tabs holding the clear lens on the house. Pry off lens, if not coming off, heat a little longer

Remove screws holding reflector in housing. Remove reflector from chrome shield.

Wipe down shield, spray paint it, 2 coats for even coating

Reassemble, bake again, reassemble car

After showing my wife the white pro5 with headlights painted, I'll now be doing hers. I promise to take pics to update the How-to thread

Do it...it is super easy. I was a little uneasy as well but just follow the below post. There is also a how-to on it but I don't think the pics load anymore.

Sand chrome enough to rough it up, Wipe down shield, spray paint it, 2 coats for even coating

Reassemble, bake again, optional to use silicon to reseal light assembly to avoid condensation (I didn't and have had no problems but some people like to play it safe reassemble car

Nice write-up! I just added a couple of things.

Doh! I knew I forgot something. I kept rereading it thinking, "I know I am missing something!"

Thanks for the additions!!

Hopefully next week I'll be able to add pics to the write-up to replace the red X's in the How-To section. While I'm at it, I'll probably redo the rear valence on her car too and get pics up of that as well.

I did rough them up wiht a red scotchbright pad.

I did not need silicone though as the origional gew sealant sealed up fine
