Bino's P5 Build

rear is a pain in the bum, but fairly easy if you remove the intake manifold...

If you are going to have the intake manifold out for a different reason (VTCS removal, 626....) then it's right there and easy to get too. And even if you don't have to pull the manifold, it's actually fairly easy to pull the manifold.

I recently just put my AWR rear mount in. Those 3 bolts that hold it to the frame were a HUGE pain in the ass. I broke one socket in the process. You'll need about 3' of extensions to clear the top of the engine bay- and then a big ass breaker bar to go along with it.

i was thinking of doing the VTCS removal when i install my new 4-2-1 Header and midpipe combo.... which came in today, well at least the header... wtf the office i think kept my midpipe and wont give it to me until i put my name on the lease.... i guess i should do that because a bunch more parts are coming in...

so i found a shop to do the mounts... at least the front and side inserts... they might as well put in the UDP whenever i get it so i'll wait for that...

going to be running at the track soon... at the end of the month specifically. hopefully get into the 16's with more than an intake.... ill have a 4-2-1 header, UDP, MM(which i knwo wont do anything) and catless midpipe, that means i can run 120 octane leaded race fuel!!, right? and i got new tires... potenza 215 55 16 directional tires... and wont use them until race day...

im also going to be purchasing a tranny cooler soon

thanks for the info tom03es, which i always read as tomatoes.... until i typed it out...

im dumb...

tomatoes- that's pretty funny actually. I never understood i12drivemyMP5 until I typed it out either.

And a word on the tires- you may actually want to drive around on them for a few days before hand. New tires are somewhat slippery because of the mold release still left on the surface of the tread. If you drive around on them, it will scrub that off and they will grip better.

Which 4-2-1 header did you get?

I've been very happy with my VTCS removal.

i get it... i want to drive my mp5....

anywho... i ll put the tires on a week before and drive around... ill be doing the VTCS this weekend, hopefully when the shop has it off to do the rear motor mount... then off to do the exhaust so i dont get yelled at for not having any cats... now all i have to do is look up the torque specs... does anyone on hand have this information? thanks

man that KL swap is looking real good now... once i get this header/midpipe combo im setting up for the KL... even though the h/m has nothing to do with the KL... i just got impatient and wanted to do something to the car... so i might sell these 88durometer AWR front and rear mounts and side inserts if it doesnt fit the KL... and since the KL will be manual... i should get the stiffer mount.... if they fit...

wish me luck... going to be doing the H/M and hopefully the VTCS removal tomorrow also!

if you are itching to drop the coin on the KL swap, stop spending money on the FS already :P

Either you or MakeMeGoFast needs to buy a KL, or everyone reading your threads are going to die of anticipation :P

Yeah, need to get my head out of my ass. Have been working on the suspension a bit. Just ordered some parts to make my own Endlinks. So Next weekend. I have a slew of parts going on. RB bars,GTspec parts, and the links.

Unfortunately my mental health has been workin against me in this Project, as far as money goes though. Been in and out of work cause of it, therefore low income. Hopefully I can get things worked out soon and get back on track.

wow this thing is hella loud
ill put some vids up.... i popped a couple fireballs..... too scary... theres still some fitment issues and im getting it fixed tomorrow.

I can source you a KL for dirt cheap. TBK Performance has one for sale. Where in Florida are you at? The engine is in Doral, I guess he can ship if need be.

thanks man ill look into it... but as much as i want to i dont think i can afford other things right now if i buy it now.... i have to check if it includes the tranny ecu and stuff... thanks i appreciette it

today proved the day why I have to go KL... racing today at the track was fun... i actually beat a Jetta and an Integra by a second! i was only able to run twice... but seeing all those cars, stangs, vettes, K-Motors, and camaro's... a 250whp KL-ZE would be able to pop his head in and at least stand next to guys... all right! after wasting $1k on this little excuse for a motor, no offence for those who like it, i have a CAI, 4-2-1 Header, catless Midpipe and CBE, i have only taken about 1.5 seconds off my time... and i cant even break the stock MP5 MT time... bogus! everythings going towards the KL now... what to buy first...hmmm... i already have mounts... so that's good... the ECU? maybe i should get the EMS Megasquirt.... but thats really expensive... hmmm...

Microtech LT12S, or a haltech unit to suite a 6 cylinder would be my vote for ems...

i see.... *gets price quotes*

and since my car is an automatic... im going to need to get some pedals, some firewall cut into, shifter. lines and cables... do i use a P5 MT setup or look for an MX 6 setup... because i highly doubt the tranny im getting will include that. i also noticed its like missing half the transmission... well not half but the part thats supposed to hook up to my shifter and axles... is that soemthing im going to have custom made? or am i just dumb as hell...

i havent quite decided what ecu yet...
Microtech - $1495
Haltech E11V2 - $1672 (i'm leaning towards this)

but the ECU that comes with the motor is $300 and i kinda need that so i can drive around the car with the new motor with bolt-ons... but im getting a lot of money very very soon.... $1500 for everything... the KL-ZE motor, MT, and ecu so we'll see how its coming along...

also... i need a new midpipe because the flex pipe is leaking like hell... im thinking of just getting a new pipe from a muffler shop locally so that it has some resale value to anyone here who might want a 4-2-1 header/midpipe...

how much does a typical motor swap cost?

oh yea... ive heard a lot about that at the mx6 forums and stuff.... yea ill check that out... and how do i know its a KL-ZE from the engine code... i see a lot of KL-31.... the USDM KL is the KL-03 or KL-DE so i'm just checking before i buy the wrong motor and ecu... i just found a KL 31 ECU for like $200 so i'm just checking... and i need to find out about that radiator fitment problem... makemegofast was saying something about a radiator from a certain company that just bolts on both the car and motor...

*edit*
I just looked up some megasquirt prices and stuff... but whats the best one for the KL... MS I or MS II or does it really matter... im looking at mx6 forums now so it looks like they know what theyre talking about... sweet

and oh yea...

"200HP ECU's are KL31 and KL36.
The interesting thing about both these ECU's and there part number is that the BIG NUMBER (on the big label) maybe KL31 but the long part number on the bar code label is KL36 18881 and a letter, and for the KL36 the number is KL31 18881 and a letter."

i found that answer

Mx-6 radiator fits I believe for the application, just need to fab up mounting brackets for it.

i think i'm going to go with MegaSquirt... well for now... its pretty affordable for an EMS and it works well with the KL-ZE so that's decided... next the Transmission...

Just its a bit of a DIY type of EMS. although I'm sure there are base map you can from the site
