Big Problem

i installed the Infinity Kappa 572.5cf 5x7's in the front and i also installed the Infinity Kappa 692.5i 6x9's in the rear. i am using the stock head unit. the problem that i am having is the bass response. i have no bass. the bass is turned up all the way to the max on the hu but still no bass. it is there but i can barely hear it;lets just say that the stock speakers had better bass. the highs are very nice and clear, but thats all there is. it just gets LOUD, with no bass.maybe i did something wrong, but please comment on what you think the problem is...thank you

try rechecking your connections.
you might have hooked them up backwards.

i agree, they may be out of phase which is when your wires are mixed (+) and (-) are connected incorrectly. Also, with the Kappa series, and this is just what I have heard, require more power so you may be losing some of the bass capabilities do to the efficiency of the speaker. The cheap factory ones are more efficient on power because of the materials that are used and such, whereas the Infinity speakers need more juice to produce. You still should get a little more bass, but it's hard to say without hearing them.

try adjusting you're left-right balance...if they're in-phase they should get louder the closer you get to being centered. if they're out-of-phase they'll get louder as you get to one side or the other. too you should probably run those speakers off of an amp, the stock hu doesn't really put out enough watts to power those speakers.

Are you sure that the High Pass Filters are off? If they are on then they block low frequencies because it assumes that your subwoofer will pick up low frequencies and then some. I'm not sure if your deck has High Pass Filters bulit-in, my Pioneer does, as well as the more expensive decks. So, go back and check your settings on the deck.

ok, i guess i better make sure they are in phase. i was thinking about the power too, maybe the stock hu doesnt have enough power to actually push the bass, but it does have enough to push the highs loud enough to just cover up any of the bass that it is getting... does that make any sense???anyways thanks for replying, and keep it up...thank you

I would suspect the decks settings or a phase issue before the lack of power.
What car do you have?

I have the same speakers in my car... they sound awesome with just the stock head unit, but I'll eventually be adding an amp to make it even better. You shouldn't have lost any bass by changing to these speakers. I know the stock HU isn't very powerful, but it's enough to provide decent bass with these speakers.

Ok so there is no way a crossover is involved.
Phase is deffinitly my guess.
Balance and fade so only the front right speaker is on and play a bass heavy track with the bass on 0.
Then start to balance to the left. You should here more bass when in the center, if not then the front left and front right are out of phase. Do the same with the rears then just the right speakers using the fader and then the left.
Keep track of which sets the bass was additive and which were not.

well for sure i do not think the fronts are out of phase because i used a wiring harness.but i didnt have a harness for the rears so i cut the wires.i will try doing the balance thing, and hopefully i figure out whats wrong...thanks everyone

A wiring harness?
At the radio for a new radio or at the speakers?

Thats what i though. Well we can assume its right :D. The balance and fade test wil tell us if it is.

If you want to take it that they are correct in the clips then simply switch the + and - on each of the rear speakers and see what happens.

well...i did the fade to rear, and messed with the balance from left to right, and it sounded awesome on the right, and then awesome on the left, but crappy in the middle, so i guessed all of yall were right. so, i tried switching them both, and it still sounded the same...all crappy, so i thought i may have put them back on the same way i took them off, so i switched them again, and still..no good sounding bass.so after getting over being mad at them i thought "what if i just switched one of the speakers." so thats what i did and now it sounds wonderful. these speakers can really make a difference.they sound awesome. thanks for all the replys

Bingo, that is what I was going to say since the stock isn't the Kenwood MP3 with all of the crossover features you can control from the HU. I just cut my wire harness off and spliced in to them and kept the factory speakers with plug ins plugged in so that they can be replaced. I have heard from reviews on Infinity speakers that both sets of Infinity's are nice "Reference" and "Kappa", but Reference is best used if running off of factory or high powered head unit and a little bit beefier amp to run the Kappas, but I would not think you would lose that much bass. Unless of course, out of phase.
